I just ran across this looking for the "KITS" that include the base and the lock plate for a few dollars less than the cost of each part.

It IS a blackened metal base and I can't tell if they include a plastic lock... or a metal lock plate. In the photo it could be plastic. It's not cheap... $21.95 for the "kit".

Magazine Base Kit, (Black)

The Kahr magazine base kit is blackened using an ultra hard and super thin coating. Kit includes a black metal base and the base lock. Fits all Kahr 9mm and .40 S&W magazines.

Qty: $21.95

Has anyone tried this... 9mm or .40??

You might need an O-ring... 3/32" thick and 3/4" inner diameter to stop pinching, as I did with my 6-round P40 mags using the metal bases.

Nice find, Wynn!

Looks like the metal locking plate to me . . . Would love to have a couple, but, D@mn! at that cost I will have to wait until we win a large lottery.

We are going to win a lottery, aren't we? . . . Yeah, sure, kid.

Seems likely that one could get the whole mag tube, base, and locking plate coated professionally for close to that cost. Haven't looked seriously . . . for the same reason mentioned above. :o

My 1st. appoihtment is Novemeber 13th:banplease:

If it were .45 black metal bases, I would jump on a couple, but I already have 9mm/.40S&W metal bases for the ones in my pistols for CC.

Yeah,me too, if they would fit the mags on the 3rd gen S&W 45's. I hate those plastic bumpers and have rid myself of them except the CW45 and the all metal S&W's.

I am assuming that it is their normal metal one that has been blackened. The photo is terrible! You can't see any detail.

I colored mine with a permanent black magic marker. :)

I had a P380 mag that I ruined the feed lips on, so I tried using one of the Black Gun Finish pens for aluminum and stainless... kept going over it and it got really mottled.

Actually, my carry mags are already black, sort of. I used the Caswell Plating blackening gel. The results are fairly nice but need to be touched up every four or five months.
