I'm looking for some information on shooting ranges or places someone can go shooting anywhere near Whidbey Island. My oldest son is out that way and is wondering if there is somewhere near by. He wants to shoot once a month or so when in country.

Any information is helpful, place is good or bad, where to go or not to go, membership required, crappy people, etc...

Thanks in advance

I just googled "shooting range, wa" and came up with this (https://www.google.com/search?q=shooting+range+washington+state&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a). Here is a bigger map (http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=shooting+range+washington+state&fb=1&gl=us&hq=shooting+range&hnear=0x5485e5ffe7c3b0f9:0x944278686c5ff3ba,Washin gton&sa=X&ei=hPJ-UJLqNYr1iQLr7oFg&ved=0CKcBELYD) that covers up to Arlington. Not all of those places are actual ranges (don't know why West Coast Armory came up, they are just a shop). Looks like 3 potential places up your way. I see at least two ranges not even listed on this map, so there may be others up your way that don't come up in the google search.

West Coast armory actually has two locations. The one in Bellevue is an indoor range, the one in Issaquah is just a retail shop.

None of those are terribly close to Whidbey but certainly in driving range.

Greens gunshop has an outdoor range up in Oak Harbor but I don't think the ferry boats run that direction from Whidbey.

Sams Gun Shop wouldn't have been too bad from the Edmonds Ferry dock but they just closed up about a month ago.

Norpoint in Arlington is pretty nice if you can hit off hours but a long way from Whidbey too.

I liked Sams when I lived that way. It would have been just minutes away from the Mukilteo ferry dock.

Whidbey has lots of wide open spaces. Finding a shooting friend with some acreage and a workable backstop (hill, etc) would be a good way to go!

Thanks everybody. I'll get him to check out this link. He'll be back that way this weekend.

I used to shoot at a range just east of Marysville, though this was back in the '90s. Not even sure it is still open. It was a membership club but dues were only about $60 a year. Rifle, pistol and shotgun. Outdoor range. As I recall, nice people that ran it and nice folks that shot there.
