Under Water

Anybody confident enough(especially someone with slow motion camera capabilities) in their Kahr to fire it a few times under water?

I saw a video of it with a Glock. Thought it'd be beneficial to have one out there for a Kahr!

wonder what kind of overpressure you get with a few hundred extra grains of water in the barrel. Also wonder if they did something to keep the barrel dry

I think passing gas would be more benificial. Besides the bubbles tickle on there quest to find there way out of your shorts. :D

I watch the video and watched the bullet.......look close......it only teavels about 3 or 4 feet and falls straight down. You can see it in the video up to 9 sec. The spent case goes up and down and the case hits the ground at about the same time as the bullet.

So, what do you learn from this video? Even if you shot someone 5 foot away, the bullet would never reach him. You might as well throw a rock.

Use play and pause repeatedly to see the bullet travel. Although you can se it at the normal film speed.

The bullet never leaves the video picture. It remains in view until it bottoms out.

Mythbusters did an episode about shooting guns in water. Found out exactly what Ikeo74 said, 4 feet of water will stop a bullet.

Talking this subject over with my hubby after watching that episode, he says that all guns will fire under water. Makes sense, since it's all just a mechanical reaction to the trigger being pulled....springs, linkages, etc. No fire, fuses, or black power to light. Modern guns don't care if they are wet. I never thought about it until now.

The shock wave looks rad, though!

One other thing Mythbusters did which I thought would never happen but did was to rig a 1911 .45 in a rest 3 feet off the floor in a huge old abandoned aircraft factory hanger then fired the gun and with high speed cameras found the exact spot where the fired bullet ran out of gas and hit the pavement...

Next they rigged up a device that would drop the same bullet from the same three feet at the exact same time the gun was fired...The myth was to see if the dropped bulled would hit the floor sooner than the fired bullet which I said of course it will but it hit within mili seconds of the fired bullet so being fired from a gun doesn't change the laws of gravity at all...Interesting experiment!...

Lol good one muggsy, but you can cut down on a lot of that residual fart pressure by losing the Speedo!

I think I trust my PM9 enough to try it with a standard load. Just don't have the resources to document it and make it worth it.

I'm sure it would be a less-than-fascinating experience to describe

I would be willing to do the underwater thing with my CM9 and my GoPro camera, but I don't have a swimming pool to run it in. I have a hot tub, but I would be concerned about damaging it. Same with the bathtub.

Be careful what you shoot underwater. I believe Mythbusters proved that the slower the projectile the farther it will go underwater. Something to do with surface tension.

As I recall an episode of Sea Hunt had him testing handguns underwater and I believe he was doing target practice at 25 feet with a 38.

you can keep water out by putting a condom over the business side of the gun.
