Scoundrel

I was searching for something on the web when I ran across this post. It's quite amusing, and kind of sad at the same time. My intention is not to belittle this person - her intentions are good and she made a stellar effort. But this illustrates why a little bit of education and basic training is a very good thing.

The main points I picked up:
1. The lack of education and training is what created the situation in the first place. If she hadn't been afraid of the gun, she wouldn't have attempted to unload it in the middle of the grassy field.
2. If she had known how to properly unload the gun, she probably wouldn't have sprinkled bullets on the ground. The most she might have dropped is 1 round, although she did not say what kind of gun and "clip" (magazine, probably) it was, so I cannot be sure.
3. She didn't know that even if she hit them with a lawn mower, and they did explode, they would not even have as much force as hitting a small rock with a lawn mower would have.
4. She did not know that 22lr do not contain any magnetic metals in them.
5. She did not know that moisture would first deactivate the gunpowder, (if the rounds were not sealed with wax like many .22lr types are), long before the things rusted through.
Anyway, a little bit of education and training goes a long way!
