View Full Version : Thinking about trying a remora for cw9

Has anyone used or is using one if these? I personally like the idea just not positive if it works or is it another "sham-wow" purchase for me.

If you have one what options did you go with, and what do you wish you had? I'm leaning towards the original or reinforced top with attached mag holder. Thanks for any input.

I'm using the Remora exclusively now.

I run my P9 and TP9 in the Remora 3C RFT. They say get a #10 for the TP9, but it swallows it. The 3C has plenty of trigger coverage for the T/TP series Kahrs. The CW is the same size as my P9. You might find that a 3B, sized for the PM/CM series actually works really well for the CW like the 3C does for my TP9. It will probably still cover the trigger completely and give you more 'purchase' on the grip when you draw. With the P9 in the 3C, it does fit right down to where the grip and trigger guard meet. I'd order both the 3B and 3C and try it.

I also have a 10ART RFT and I carry a Sig P250 compact (9mm) in that frequently. That's a big gun (for polymer) at ~26oz unloaded and thicker than a Glock 19. While obviously not as comfortable as a thin Kahr, it still works in the Remora, never moves, no retention issue.

It's definitely not a 'sham-wow' product...it works. Can't say enough how happy I am with mine. In some cases, it almost works too well. It can be frustrating at first adjusting it and getting used to how you position it. It's sticky as all get-out. But once you spend a few days w/ it and use it, you get better at it. I carry at 3-4 o'clock and twisting to get it in there was a pain the first couple of days.

I would say the ONLY complaint you could make about it is no 'click' retention or strap retention...should you wear it exposed, anybody could draw your pistol with little to no effort. And maybe that it's a bit thick, but since it's soft, I don't find that to be an issue. This is hands-down the MOST comfortable holster I've ever used.

Couple of folks here have indicated that it wasn't for them, but by and large, seems most folks really like them.

I'm not sure about the Remora, but my "Sham-wow" works as seen on TV. :)

Thanks for all the useful info, I was hoping for a response like this. I see you went with the rft option. Did you get any without the rft? I'm not sure which way to hop on that one, also sweat shield or no?

I must have gotten a defective box if shamwow's muggsy. The damn things wouldn't even soak up beer off a concrete floor. After that disappointment they got demoted to sweat rags for work.

You wasted BEER! And then tried to soak it up! Dude, slurp it up!

Yes, I got all RFT. The reviews seemed to indicate the non-RFT concealed a bit better and were a bit more comfortable. But I wanted something that could work at the range to draw/re-holster, or even for IDPA if I ever get the nerve to go. The non-RFT would not work well for that. I took a chance and I personally have no issue w/ comfort w/ the RFT.

I also didn't opt for a sweat shield model. I guess you want the extra coverage, or plan to carry against your skin, it might help. I always have a t-shirt on under another shirt...even another t-shirt, so I didn't need the sweat shield. It doesn't look THAT much higher unless you go w/ the full sweat shield.

I am pretty sure from the reviews that the owner is VERY willing to work w/ folks and will happily take a return. I'd order multiple, try them, and send back what you don't need. Heck, at $30, you can order quite a few for a short period.

Haha I was not about to slurp it off that garage floor between the dogs in there with us plus god only knows what fluids from the constant tinkering being done, next time I'll let you know and you can come slurp it up. I'm leaning more towards no sweat shield because I always wear a tank under my shirt, but wasn't sure because I sweat like a whore in church during summer. As for the rfti think I can probably hide it in my 6'1" 200lbs frame.
Like you said at the price I could buy 2 or 3 and see what works best, I'm just a cheap bastard and always hate parting with my money.

I have a Remora for my Glock 30 and love it. I carry it sob, cross draw, 3:00 or 4:00 and it stays put. I usually wear an undershirt of some kind because it looks like the material could rub you raw but other than that it's great. I also have one for my Kahr CW45 but I went with the sweat shield option and wish I hadn't. More limited as far as how I can carry it and the sweat shield digs in my side. All in all, great holsters for the money.

Alright then no sweat shield it is, thats the second or third time I've seen a similar response to it. Rft with attached mag holder and try the 3b and 3c.

I'll be interested in your thoughts w/ the integrated mag holder. I went w/ the straight holster b/c I wanted the extra mag on my opposite side. But I found the integrated holder interesting. I have wondered how that extra amount of sticky material and size would be to position it where you want it (keep that in mind). Not saying it won't work, just a concern I had (and not wanting the mag where it'd be harder to get to). I also wondered how easy it would 'cant' with the mag holder attached.

pacman makes a good point about the sweat shield too, the thickness of the Remora, particularly the RFT, makes the gun stand off just enough that with the sweat shield I can definitely see it digging into my side...just the way it wears. Most folks I've seen opt for it w/o the shield, but they also opt for the non RFT as well. I just wanted the RFT, and I'm very happy w/ it.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised...and I'm the same way w/ my $, but unlike a true custom holster, the Remora can be returned and they can easily resell it. Some custom shops allow you to do that, some don't.

Post back when you get it, would love to know how you like it!

I will keep you updated for sure. I like the rft option because like you said it'll just make life easier. I decided to go with the integrated mag holder just so it'd be one less thing to stick in a pocket and or fumble with. I'll probably order it this weekend and let you know how it goes.

I use Remora for daily carry with PM40 and love it. Have used it for quite a while. Has not begun to show any wear. It is the real deal. Very comfortable for IWB. No belt clip. Sticky. Won't move. Works with or without belt or with elastic work out shorts. I do not have sweat shield, but might consider one for hot summer months when I have on work out shorts and am sweating. I highly recommend Remora for IWB carry. Inexpensive and great warranty.

I have a Remora for every gun I own. I recently bought a couple Sticky Holsters for my CM9 and PM45. The Sticky are a little thinner and I like it. Exactly why I never do RFT. Very versatile!

I bought one, and use it on occasion. I wanted to try appendix carry with my HK's (which have a hammer that you can you can cover with your thumb, double insuring you don't get any surprises when you holster your pistol and it's pointed at some pretty important body parts). I was surprised and pleased that the Remora was pretty comfortable (even without an undershirt) and stayed where I put for extended periods. The best thing about it is that you can move it around about anywhere, and there it stays.

I also noticed that they are pretty versatile in terms of what they'll carry. I bought the holster designated for the P2000sk, which is a sub-compact. When I tried a compact size P2000 in it, it worked perfectly well, as did my P30.

I recently acquired a P9, which I intend to carry in a Comp-Tac Minotaur under t-shirts in the summer, and I have carried it in the same Remora, even though it has a much smaller frame than all the above HK's. The pistol looks like it has a little room to move around, but once you get the holster in place and under a belt, it really doesn't. I felt perfectly good carrying that little gun in a holster meant for much bigger pistol.

I like 'em. Unlike my Comp-Tac's, I don't forget it's there. Maybe it's because I have never worn it when it wasn't in contact with my skin. Not to say it's uncomfortable, but it's not as comfortable as the Comp-Tac's.

Glad to see good reviews not horrer stories. For the price I'll try a couple and see what I like. Payday isn't getting here soon enough.

You're supposed to lick up beer spilled on a concrete floor. Just follow the directions on the bottom of the bottle after you open it. :)

My mastiff got that beer, unfortunately that night he realized he liked beer and anytime I left one sitting on the ground he would tip it over.

Love my remora.
Great for quick trips to the store and makes a great car holster when you can't carry.

I picked up a Remora not realizing how versatile these suckers are. I was looking to replace my Uncle Mikes pocket holster for my CM9 and stumbled across these at a LGS. I thought it peculiar that they had pocket holsters for larger guns but took mine home and looked it up on the internet to find out they also work as IWB holsters. Now it goes everywhere with me, sometimes in my pocket, sometimes on my strong side. I don't often carry in the small of my back or cross draw but it's nice to know I can if the situation dictates it. I got the RE-4ART and it fits the CM9 <jimcareyvoice>like a glove</jimcareyvoice>.

Thinking about getting one for my CW9 as well.

Great holsters with a life-time guarantee.

What's the best Remora fit for a P9? I prefer a snug fit rather than loose. If my LGS doesn't have the size I need, I'll order one. The P9 is brand new, so i want to get the holster ASAP for IWB carry. Thanks.

Remora size chart shows a 3C (this is a newer model from them) for the P9. That's what I ordered, near perfect fit, but I would prefer 'less' holster up near the grip at the back of the trigger guard. Given that, a 3B (what they list for the PM series) might be better. For example, my TP9 fits the 3C exactly how I'd like, plenty of grip exposed with complete trigger coverage. I feel the P9 fits too deep in the 3C, for me.

I would order a 3C and a 3B and see which you prefer. Send the other back. I'm going to order a 3B at some point for my P9.

Hope that helps.
