I just recently got a CM9, what is a good brand of ammo to use and what grain. I had read some issues with the Federal causing a FTF from jamming.

For SD, I carry the CorBon DPX 115gr 9mm+P in my Kahr CM9. For "target" practice I can use almost anything, I have never had a problem with the cheaper ammo-i.e. blazer Brass, WWB, etc. My CM9 has been flawless from the start, and exceptional with the CorBon. Take care.

Welcome to the forum, John.
I would suggest using good brass-cased round-nosed ammo and for the defense loads any of the popular well-tested versions of JHP. I use everything but steel-cased ammo without problem, but I use a lot of Federal stuff from Walmart in all calibers... the Champion 50/100 boxes and almost any modern major manufacturer's ammo. I use lots of Sellier & Bellot(Czech), MFS/Herter's/Fiocchi (all US-made in Ozark, MO). I also use Blazer aluminum-cased 124-grain FMJ. I go after whatever is cheapest... non-steel... and prefer 124-grain bullets. I watch for good deals online and buy case amounts on sale, with no tax, and the lowest or free shipping deal I can get for the lowest prices delivered. It's hard to beat Walmart for local ammo, and I've had no problems with the Federal Champion or Winchester White Box. I would stick to round-nosed FMJ, though, for the range.

My carry ammo is Speer Gold Dots 124-gr +P in the Short Barrel version. I also have the regular 124-gr GD's, but want the ones formulated for performance in the shorter Kahr barrels. Gold Dots are bonded bullets and have a great reputation.

The only practice ammo I've used in mine so far is WWB and it's fed every brand of jhps I've tried. Corbon 115 DPX and 124+P Gold Dot won out for carry and fortunately I have a bunch of both.:D

For target practice I shoot Federal Champion from Wal-Mart or Sellior & Bellot (both in 115g FMJ). For carry I use Hornady Critical Defense 115 gr. Never had a malfunction with any of it.

I carry the Federal HST or Speer Gold Dot 124 grain +P in my CM9. I like to practice with the same weight FMJ bullet, so I usually pick up any quality practice ammo, brand doesn't matter. I don't use Russian made stuff or steel cased ammo. Once you find what works well, stick with it! :D

I have only recently (the last two years) become something of a fan of the 9mm cartridge, after preferring the .45 Auto for decades.
I bought a Gen 4 Glock 19 when all the reports of problems were just surfacing. To avoid some of the issues being reported, I used 124 and 147 gr. ammo in that pistol, and had no problems whatsoever.
After buying my Kahr CM9, I used those "heavier" bullets when breaking in my new pistol. No problems, except with the 7 round magazine, and those quickly went away.
I realize the OP was probably searching for the most inexpensive practice ammo, or a similarly inexpensive hollow point to use in his CM9, but I believe in using something very similar to what you might have to use on the street, and that can involve some expense.
I've fired Armscor 124 gr. FMJ, Gold Dot Short Barrel 124 gr.+P, Winchester Ranger 124 gr. JHP, Federal HST 147 gr. JHP, Winchester 124 gr. NATO, and Federal HST 124 gr.+P JHP.
No failures of any kind with those brands, weights, and loadings.

I typically use whatever I can find cheap at Wal-Mart. Usually Winchester White box or Federal. When I'm really feeling cheap, I use the Tul Ammo for $10/box. No problems with any of it.

I My carry ammo is Underwood 115 grain, which is accurate at fifty yards and quite powerful. For practice, I still have a large supply of reloads prepared for GSSF that have just enough energy to cycle a G17. They work fine in a Kahr

Be careful that you really have BONDED Golden Sabers. I found and told many online retatilers selling the BJHP as bonded... that stands for Brass Jacketed Hollow Points. The bonded ones have Bonded in front of Remington and a small golden scroll with Bonded on it in the upper right of labeling on the boxes. And, the model numbers start with GSB, rather than GS.

For practice I usually use American Eagle, Blazer Brass, or Speer Lawman 124gr (whatever is less that day in 1000 round bulk packs), but beyond that I'll used just about recognizable brand except the WWB which is the only 9mm ammo I've ever had any trouble with.
For Defense (in my CM9): Gold Dot 124gr (usually), Also: Winchester Ranger 147gr (New Bonded) or Federal HST 147gr (not +p).

My LGS has MagTech for $12 for a box of 50. I've used MagTech in my other guns, but I just today bought a CM9. I will pick-up some for the range. I need to get two mags and then off to the range! I'll probably run about 50 rounds of 124 grain Nato ammo through it first...

For range fodder try PMC Bronze. For EDC Speer Gold Dot in 124 +p or 147 gr is hard to beat. Winchester PDX is also very good.

In all of my 9mm pistols I carry GD 124's or HST 147's. For range use any 115 FMJ works well for me. YMMV. tom.
