Man, how I have been wanting one of these since ealry last year. I even had one at my house last Christmas being hidden from my bro-in-law till Christmas morning. That was a hard thing to let go of being such rare thing at the time! I had called her and let her know I had found one, bought it, and she paid me for it. I did not want to let it go, lol.
My LGS got a few in this past week, and being that I send them a lot of business and have bought a ton for them, they told me I could get it for $599 and tax. I thought that was a pretty good seal considering I see them online for $675-799.
I stripped it this morning, cleaned and lubed it, polished the feed ramp, and racked it a few hundred times. This thing exudes quality, precision, and Ruger's best craftsmanship. I am very impressed at the detail.
This is my first 1911. I hope it serves me well. I know Ruger is about the best there is for backing their products. I wasn't planning on carrying it, but you never know. I have been known to change my mind ;)
Will be going to the range this afternoon hopefully (wife is at work, have both my kiddos, so we'll see.) If not today, for sure tomorrow. Wish me/it luck!

BIG Congrats Les!
That is a such a nice gun, you are going to love it.
I am going to have one myself when I find a good deal like you got. I have to think that the frenzy over these has soon got to be over and they will start dropping in price and showing up more places. Enjoy it!

I've always been a big Ruger guy. Never had a bad product from them. I know when they have had issues with certain guns, they more than made up for it to their customers.
BIG Congrats Les!

I agree. I think they are starting to catch up with the demand. This is the first time my JGS has had more than one in at one time, and they are a high-volume dealer. Untul this last shipment, they have had maybe 3 since Ruger released the SR1911 earlier last year.
I had forgotten how much I love an all metal semi-auto pistol :)

I'm so happy for you Les. You sure had to wait a long time, the pain and suffering had to be horrible. But it's yours now and put all that behind ya.
I actually saw 2 at our gunshow last weekend. First I'd ever seen since they came out.
You got an excellent price and even when supply catches up I don't think anyone will do any better. That's a border line gift. Maybe patience pays off after all, I'll probably never know.

I had a few other toys to occupy my time of pain and suffering, LOL.
I had to familiarize myself with the breakdown and reassembly. I did it and didn't leave behind the formidable "1911 idiot mark"!

Thanks guys!
Didn't make it to the range yesterday, but my daughter is at her friend's house today, and my boy and I are about to load up and go to the range. I have a 4 boxes of .45 FMJ. I'll probably run one through it and a couple mags of Hornady I have. I don't want to shoot too much ammo up here before election time. Call me paranoid, but you know what I'm sayin'.
The trigger has a little loose play, maybe 1/16", not creep, lust loose. It doesn't bother me. It feels like it breaks at ~4lb with zero overtravel. I can deal with that.

Congrats! That's a great looking pistol! We look forward to a range report... and pictures!
I might have to get one of those someday and put some Trijicon HD Yellow NS on it... great for "old eyes" day or night!

I had thought about the idea of putting night sights on it, but the Novak's are pretty bright for daytime use, and honestly, this will not replace my CM9 or G30 (both with night sights) for EDC. Those two don't have the HD sights and are not the best for picking up on during the day. These Novak's pop during the daylight hours.

ETA: Hickok45 has said several times that you pretty much have to cover the target with the front sight on these or they will shoot low.
