If you could draw a line up from the back of the mag to the metal frame above at the bottom of the curve inward, all of that area is wood. I see no way to replace it. Why would you want to replace the wood anyway?

Go easy on Jocko. It's the only wood he's familiar with for many years.

I wasjust surmising, as if it could be done neatly and look right, it would decrease some of the bulk jof the wood grip at the back strap area. Not owning an MK, I probably was just shootin in the wind:popcorn: Just sayin
I was thinkin of u can have an open front strap why not a possable open back strap??:der: U gotta understand that i JUST got back from florida and after viewing all the T & A at biketoberfest. I have come to the conclusion that LESS IS BETTER..

Why did you have to post this? I had finally decided to leave my polymer grips om my MK9, and now I need to get those wood grips. They look awesome.

Well, jocko, the trigger reach with my small hand on my CM9 is very short, so that I can easily pull that trigger with the second pad in the middle of my finger. I only wish I could get some extra bulk on the backstrap. That MK9 looks perfect. I think I gotta have one! :p

There is no backstrap on the Kahr so you couldn't leave it open like some but you could easily remove a lot of wood from the back or thin them down a bunch too.
I find them more comfy removing wood from the heal, sort of bob tailing the grip.
If I ever manage to get a newer MK I could easily leave wood to address jfootins issue too. I don't hear of that very often.
Those wood grips sure look nice on Ikeo's gun. Very nice.

those wood grips look really nice on the stainless.
not to hack your thread, but i've been thinking of getting one of these little buggers. how would y'all say mk9 shot compared to the k9?

Shot 50 rounds through my MK9 today for the first time after installing the wood grips. Accuracy and feel of the new grips was very good. The grip screws that came with the grips did not losen up. Everything stayed tight. The grips are a great addition to my MK9. :D It's a sweet shooting gun and my dedicated belt carry with the holster pictured in the first poat.

I have never owned or shot a K9.

k9 alittle more grip area to get ur hand around. long sight radius. It shouldshoot better but for a great fightin gun, kinda hard to beat the MK. both are more than likely waste band carry.

i think if people would just add pearce grip then the mk9 with nylon or cm9 will feel great in the hand...

Great. By the way, did you use any kind of thread locker on the grip screws?

No thread locker on them. However if they work loose later, after more rounds fired, I will use some.

MK9 with Pearce extension is great for handling (no dangling pinky).
Adding Pearce makes MK9 about same height as K9 - that plus K9 not much longer. 7th round in K9 (vs. 6 in MK9) - that seems to me to tip the scale in favor of K9.

O-rings work quite well without a mess - 1x3 mm ID is a good size.

I shot 50 rounds through my MK9 yesterday @ 7 yards, standing with a 2 hand grip. I out did myself and put 35 of those 50 into a 2 inch circle. Only 4 strayed to 4" off center. The rest were within the 4" circle. That is by far the best I have shot. There were no malfunctions of any kind. I just love that little gun.:D

Nice shooting!
You've got a steady hand. Good shootin'.

Thanks ikeo74. I got a woodie too! The grip screws did work loose after a couple hundred rounds so the loctite is a good idea. I bought the wood grips for their looks but it turns out I like the fit better. SCORE! I also use the Pearce ext or the extended mags.

I am going to experiment with a trimmed piece of plastic slid underneath the Qwik-Grip rubber grip sleeve on the back of my CM9 grip. I tried it with the thin handle of a tea spoon, and it makes my trigger reach perfect! :) I am looking for a cylindrical plastic rod that I can cut flat on one side to fit against the gun, and use the roundedness on the outside to form a neat contour. I may put some two sided tape between it and the gun, but I won't use glue. The Qwik-Grip will keep it in place.
I do think I am eventually going to have to get one of those gorgeous MK9s with wood grips, though! Maybe an Elite '03! Have to save my pennies. :o

Here is an idea for your backstrap to slide under the stretch on grip.
Find a old rubber hose, cut off about 3 or 4 inches and then split it in half (or less than half). You will then have a nice flexable back strap you can trim to fit and it will be comfortable to grip. Just a thought. Something flexable would be better than a rigid wood or plastic. A black washing machine hose would be just about right and the right color too.

I used to carry my MK9 in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster in blue jeans and it worked just fine.
