Mailed in my ballot this afternoon. For me, it's now a spectator event.

Wonder how the storm will affect voting in the Northeast next week?

Hope not.

From what I understand, due to the storm, the voting will be split. Republicans will vote on Nov. 6th and democrats on Nov 7th. :)

Speaking of which...

======
Federal law requires presidential elections to be held on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November, but it also provides that if a state “has failed to make a choice on the day prescribed by law, the electors may be appointed on a subsequent day in such a manner as the legislature of such State may direct.”

So, theoretically state legislatures could determine their electors (electoral college members)?!

What about those that have early/absentee voted?

Is that the "electors" of the Electoral College? They aren't bound by popular vote.

There is no Constitutional provision or Federal law that requires Electors to vote according to the results of the popular vote in their States. Some States, however, require Electors to cast their votes according to the popular vote. These pledges fall into two categories—Electors bound by State law and those bound by pledges to political parties.

The U.S. Supreme Court has held that the Constitution does not require that Electors be completely free to act as they choose and therefore, political parties may extract pledges from electors to vote for the parties’ nominees. Some State laws provide that so-called "faithless Electors"; may be subject to fines or may be disqualified for casting an invalid vote and be replaced by a substitute elector. The Supreme Court has not specifically ruled on the question of whether pledges and penalties for failure to vote as pledged may be enforced under the Constitution. No Elector has ever been prosecuted for failing to vote as pledged.

Today, it is rare for Electors to disregard the popular vote by casting their electoral vote for someone other than their party’s candidate. Electors generally hold a leadership position in their party or were chosen to recognize years of loyal service to the party. Throughout our history as a nation, more than 99 percent of Electors have voted as pledged.

Electors in these States are not bound by State Law to cast their vote for a specific candidate:
New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, et al

Thanks..good follow-up. I believe that the Politico article is referring to electors to the Electoral College.

It appears that if the elections in some states simply cannot be held on 11/6 then it seems as if the state legislature can select the electors. In that case not only would they technically not be bound by their states popular vote - there wouldn't be a state popular vote.

Stay tuned and hope we do not go down this unprecedented path.

new york can have 65% of the popular vote go to romney and the electoral reps will still cast the vote for obama.

Obama campaign takes money from ‘Osama bin Laden’

Using a Pakistani Internet Protocol and proxy server, a disposable credit card and a fake address, “Osama bin Laden” has successfully donated twice to Barack Obama’s presidential re-election campaign.

The “Bin Laden” donations, actually made by WND staff, included a listed occupation of “deceased terror chief” and a stated employer of “al-Qaida.”

“Bin Laden” is currently set up on the official campaign website to contribute more to Obama’s campaign. The name is also registered as a volunteer.

Since the “foreign” contribution was sent, “Bin Laden’s” email address has received several solicitations from Obama’s campaign asking for more donations.

The apparently foreign-based contributions were conducted as a test after a flurry of media reports described the ability of foreigners to donate to the Obama campaign but not to Mitt Romney’s site, which has placed safeguards against such efforts.

The acceptance of foreign contributions is strictly illegal under U.S. campaign finance law.

If you ask me, I think this is funny! :D
