Anyone make the jump from PM9 to the revised P290RS?

A few pros: higher capacity, better trigger (I've handled one at my LGS and liked it), stippling has more grip, and, of course, ability to restrike during a light primer strike.

Has anyone shot it yet? How does it compare?

Hard to believe a better trigger

Hard to believe a better trigger

I only got to dry fire it but the pull was much improved over the old version's long and gritty pull. Don't get me wrong, the PM9 has an excellent trigger (has gotten smoother after ~1000 rds too) but for a NIB gun, the 290 felt pretty good.

I have fired a P290 RS and intend upon getting one after the first of the year. The trigger pull is nice and wil only get better with usage.

Thanks, have you fired the PM9 as well? How did it compare during live firing to the 290?

Fired a CM9 and the 290RS compares favorably to each other.

I bought both and am keeping the CM9. I preferred the Sig hammer action, but something about the trigger reach did not work for my hand. Nicely made, though. My Sig 290 is now at my LGS on consignment.

Thank you for the feedback. What is the average value of a used one?

you should be able to get one for around 400, i had the first one and the trigger was horrible, and it was heavy

My TP9 had some issues with feeding and light strikes. It had a 30-day guarantee so it got traded for a used P290.

It is the original P290 not the RS. I have 200 rounds through the P290 so far with no issues. Feeds & fires great. For me & my big hands it's more accurate than the TP9 was, but that's just me.

The only difference between the P290 and P290RS is the addition of RS capability via a new trigger bar, plus a recontoured backstrap on the frame, slightly different takedown lever and modified mag release button.

Mine appears to have the newer takedown lever and mag release buttons and has had no light strikes. I talked to Sig Customer Service and the RS is available as an upgrade for $99. They install the new trigger bar. Haven't decided to do it b/c "restrike" isn't that important to me. How often do you get hard primers? Know your ammo for a personal defense weapon.

I compared mine to a new P290RS at the local LGS & indoor range the other day. Dry fire only of course but both me & the salesperson thought my now broken in trigger felt better than the new P290RS.

That said the trigger pull on the Kahr TP9 is "smoother" than the Sig out of the box. The Sig feels a bit more grit and stacking but it's getting better & better with more rounds through it. It may get a polish to smooth it more. Waiting for 1000 rounds to see how it feels.

Like I said, for me it's more accurate & the failures I had with the Kahr made me not trust it.

Oh weight wise it's a wash but I had the TP9 so it was a bit bigger.

Sig also comes with night sights.

Price on mine was $450'sh as a used gun, in box, papers, 2 mags one flush 6 rnd, one 8 rnd extended.

I bought a P290RS several weeks ago, pre-craziness and put about 500 rounds thru her. Love the gun. It is my deep cover secondary CCW.
