Hey whats up? I'm in the process of selecting a mag carrier. I would prefer a dual mag, but I'm still undecided. What do you guys like and why?

While I love my Don Hume holster, I'm not thrilled with the mag carrier. It is too loose and the mags will fall out.:smash:

I'm very happy with my Crossbreed IWB mag carrier. I've got an old style one mag carrier and a newer style 2 mag carrier for my PM45. They are comfortable (considering they are IWB) and they and the PM45 simply disappear under a t-shirt.

I haven't found an OWB mag carrier I like for the PM series yet.

I prefer 2 single mag pouches. I've found that it's much more flexible for carry uses. I do run a dual mag pouch for my 1911 in competition, but not on the streets - 2 mags really close to each other comes in handy when I have a 18 shot fast fire string.

2 single pouches is more flexible with positioning around belt loops, and does not make one mag hard to remove and one easy (can adjust tension independently, which many dual mag pouches don't allow). Think about it - unless you wear only one make/model of pants, and never deviate, the belt loops are in different places around you, and of different widths. What works for one set of pants may not work for a set of shorts.

I can position one mag at about 10:30 o'clock for a fast reload, the other right next to it if I'm carrying the TDI KaBar at 8:30-9:00. I can pop the other mag at 8:30-9:00 if I'm not carrying a belt sheathed knife.

My dual mag pouch is a Fobus, which does not offer a whole lot of resistance to the draw, and juuust enough retention to keep them from flying out. My carry mag pouches are made by Comp-Tac, very high quality gear that's easy on/easy off with excellent retention, yet allows for a smooth and fast presentation.

Found some at PCSholsters.com, there pretty dang nice looking and conceal the mag pretty well. I think I might like the horizontal style for everyday carry, kind of looks like a cell phone holder. Good tips about having 2 single mags instead of a double. Cost twice as much but much more adaptable to different situations.

I mentioned my favorite mag carrier is the case that comes with certain Costco reading glasses. 3 cases for six bucks I think, and they throw in 3 sets of reading glasses. Great for 9mm Kahr. My second favorite is a case I bought for a swiss army knife. You can wear it on your belt if you like and it just looks like you have a swiss army knife. It has an easy to open flap.

Sounds like a good idea on the glasses case. Keeping it completely concealed is kind of important to me. The Safariland 123 is not bad but at at 6" it might be to long. Its only about $20. I've been looking at K&D holsters, they have a canted belt slide that I believe is made for the Kahr mag but I'm not sure on that. I like there IWB holster as well, it can go either be a tuckable IWB or a high ride belt slide OWB. I'm still thinking about having a mag carrier made just because most are generically sized. You could have a dual mag made pretty small for a Kahr.

Just wanted to post my latest findings and try to get this topic going again cause I still haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. Bianchi makes a dual mag holder that fits vert or horizontal specifically for the T40 and other guns with similar size mags. Just have to stuff some foam down in there to make up the 1 round difference. It definitaly looks like a mag holder though, "police" style if you will. I'd like to find a single mag horizontal holder that would fit about the 10-11 o'clock and 1-2 o'clock perfectly sized for Kahr mags. Of course this means they would have to be right and left handed. I'll probably have to have these custom made. I've thought about just getting an elastic sleeve as I think that would work just fine, just wouldn't look that great. Any ideas?

Measure the lenth of your mag, my wife just got me one of them telephones you don't gotta plug into the wall, you can play with it anyplace, ain't got no dial on it, just a mess of buttons, don't matter none. BUT it come with a case that holds it horizontal on your belt, has a flap that holds shut with a magnet. Looks near perfect size for my k40 mag but it's at home. I'll try my 1911 mag, nope not quite long enough. I think an officers size mag would go. Would be ambi and everyone would think you got a telephone on your belt.

I found a decent back or cargo pocket dual mag holder at WRBUSA.com. I'll have to start looking at cell phone cases, maybe Ipod cases too.

I tried my K40 mag and a officers 45 mag and they worked just fine in this phone case. The only down side is if you carry a phone too, then you gotta carry 2 phone cases or maybe even more. End up looking like inspector gadget! Take a call and come out with a magazine or go for a reload and come up with a phone. Guess more thought needed here.
Some of the blueberry cases, **********? heck you could carry the gun in some of them.

I've been censored. I think blueberry might actually be the tire sidewall color berry. Everyone ok with that? I don't mean to be off color here.

How about a Desantis double mag carrier?

Commerce Storefront B2C (http://www.desantisholster.com/storefrontB2CWEB/itemdetail.do?action=prepare_detail&itm_id=76&itm_index=0)

Can be worn horizontally also and is tension adjustable.
They make singles also but no horizontal carry. They do make one called the SS and it has a slight forward angle to it.

I have a double on the way from an Ebay buy.
Should be a good carrier.
I have a few of their holsters and like them.

Dual pouch? Must be very hostile...

I have a Buck's #112. Fits both 7rd and 6rd mag, tighty tight, no moving around inside the sheath, is secure and stay close to the body. For $10 what not to like...

actually, I don't even carry it, bought it just for fun. 6+1 is enough for my need.

In fact, I'm heading out today to get a #110 (bigger) for the CZ 14 rd mag.. I know that it will just be another "mag carrier" I won't have need to use. Guess I just love leather gear :-)

I'm with ya, I find that if I keep the leather gear tightly sealed up in a ziplock bag, the new leather smell last longer. Kind of like new car smell. I've actually never experienced new car smell of my own but I inhale deeply of other peoples new cars. They try to duplicate that with air freshners but hasn't happened yet. I also have a leather scent candle on my desk for when I need a good leather fix.
