I know this is hard to believe.
But I break my guns in hard.
Usually just hot LE HPs for boxes and boxes.
When I first got my MK40 Elite I tried Speer 180 gr Short Barrel.
These are pricey little buggers so I only ran about two 20 round boxes.
The spanking new super tight MK40 no likey.
Then boxes and boxes of Winchester Ranger 180 gr bonded JHPs.
The girl smoothed out at about 200 rounds.
But became 100% reliable at about 400.
Then I ran a box of hot Speer LE 155 gr GDHP rounds (~1150 fps out of a 3.0" barrel) that ran fine.
You can't get the Short Barrel in 50 round LE boxes that I know of.
And I never went back to check if she would feed them following break in.
Today I decided to give them a try.
Very accurate and soft shooting the Speer Short Barrel rounds run fine.
