I purchased a new CM9 last week. When going through the manual, it stated that Kahr's come in a plastic case! Mine came in a cardboard case. Is this the norm now?

more than likely. the manual is usuaally ayear or so behind. They still show the blunt nose PM9 on their webb sites. It hasn't been made for avbout 4+ years.
I have two plastic boxes aroundhere somewhere. Have not seen them in 5 years at least. They are probalby with my Ruger plastic box and my Glock plastic box SOMEWHERE.

Everything used to come in cardboard. I have some very old gun boxes. I don't honestly know why they ever went to plastic.

Cardboard? Really? I would be pissed if my $1000 PM9 came in a cardboard box!!!
Disregard this part. It was posted on wrong forum somehow. Silly me! Have another! :D
As far as 380s go in general I would rule it out and get a 9mm. The 9mm is flooded with pocket sized options! So many to chose from. I have the PM9 myself but if I bought another pocket sized 9mm it would be the Sig P938 all the way baby! IMO of course!

My extra mag's came in from Midway on Saturday. I'll get over to range on Tuesday to put some rounds through it. I've never shot a Kahr before, so I'm anxious to try one!

I think it's just the CM/CW that come in cardboard to help cut cost.

My PM9 was delivered in plastic 2 months ago.

The only time that I re-use the case is if I ever sell a gun!!! No big deal, I was just wondering....

Kahr service said as of the first quarter of this year, all CW's and CM's ship in the cardboard boxes.

I guess they had to cut back someplace.
Glad it wasn't in the gun itself.

I just bought a brand new Kahr P380 this month, serial number RC7***, and it came in Kahr brand plastic box, just the same as my CW9 did (which I bought exactly a year ago). Do different distributors get different packaging upon request? Maybe some distributors opt for cardboard to increase their margin? Just a thought, don't flame me.
PS. Both of my Kahr's were bought from Bud's.

Anyone seriously Jonesing for a plastic case can find them on eBay, probably for about what Kahr pays for them.
I ended up with a spare myself during my last GunBroker PM40 purchase process. It's probably in the back of a closet somewhere . . .

I read in a magazine about a month ago that Kahr was going to stop shipping the CM/CW? series with plastic cases

If that's true it sucks! I transport on commercial aircraft weekly and I need a lockable case!

My CM9 bought a month ago certainly didn't come in a plastic case! Oh well.

Wondering what cases you guys have? I have the below, which came with the PM9, and it's definitely not lockable:

My case does not look like that, my case has built-in holes on each corner of the side that opens so that I can put padlocks on the case for travel.

The CW9 that I bought in April came in that plastic box. The CM9 I bought last week came in cardboard with foam inside. I really don't care one way or the other but the plastic case was a nice touch. tom.

I just picked up my CM9 yesterday and it came in the cardboard container. In one sense I was disappointed as I rather liked the plastic case that Kahr uses. On the other hand, the pistol was well protected during shipping by the foam padding. All in all it's fine. I never use the cases my guns come in so this box, just as any other firearms package that i have, will simply be stacked with the others until such time I would have any need of it.
JMOfartO:
Well, I'm new to the Kahr owners family, but I'm guessing my opinion on whether my new gun comes in "paper or plastic" simply doesn't matter too much.
My new Kahr CM9 came in paper.. (cardboard)..
My new Springfield XDs came in a very nice plastic box with all sorts of goodies in it.
My NIB (and new to me) 1985 Browning Hi Power came in paper. (cardboard)..
My next purchase will come in paper, because it's gonna be another Kahr CM9..
I loves my CM9 now.. :D
And the cardboard box is safely put away in the back of the closet, as would it be had it been plastic.

All of our Kahr's came in plastic blow-molded cases, including 3 new ones just a couple of weeks ago as well as the CM9, but that was last year. Maybe, it's a CM/CW thing.

My Kahrs have come in either the standard bare plastic case or the foam filled plastic case. I've yet to buy one in cardboard. I like the Kahr cases because they are as small as they are. I store my guns in cases in my safe and the Kahr cases are as utilitarian as they come. Some guns come ginormous cases, large enough to pack a weeks clothing and a good book.
My favorite case is the one holding my FN 5.7. It's somewhat small, thin, and looks like a mini-attache case.
For air travel, I'd use an aftermarket product.

I just got my Walther PPQ yesterday and it came in the nicest gun case I have ever owned. It is roomy, has two thick foam rubber liners, has a carry handle and effortless lockable slide latches on either side of the handle. It's first class! :D I'll see if I can get some pics made of my new purchase and post them in my PPQ thread.
