I finally got a carry 45. I wanted a Kahr but really needed the double stack to carry 10+1 rounds so I got a G30 Short Frame. Now I carry enough ammo in the gun and no spare mag.

I also got a new Garrett Fusion Holster and love it. It is a double clip which spreads the weight of the G30 loaded with 11rds and like the PM9 disappears with an over shirt. In fact I took pics but no bulge so didn't bother to post.

As for shooting, I was made for the 45 and shoot this one like Dad's 45. It's very natural and the larger gun doesn't twist in my grip. Below are the pics to prove it did it. :)

Congratulations on the new gun!
Seems like a more full grip spreads the recoil for me.
I actually like the thickness of my little G27.
And with the 40-9mm conversion she's 10+1 too.
Which is a nice capacity.
Running around to the gym.
Or after work in dress cloths.
I often carry the Glock with no reloads.

I must say, of all my guns, I really love shooting the HK45C the most.
There is just something special about a Big Dog .45 ACP.
But my second favorite is the Glock.
I can see why you got that combination.

ENJOY!

BTW I think Mas Ayoob's favorite carry gun is a Glock G30

Thanks Barth, I just couldn't stand the end of the world coming and I hadn't bought that G30 yet.

Good for you but what happened to the pictures? Oh well, all Glocks look alike anyway :)

In my hands the Glock grip feels like a 2X4.

The gun was so fugly, it broke Photobucket. Too bad we have to kick Old Lincoln off of Kahr Talk now. It was nice knowin' ya.

:D

Aw, who am I to talk, I'm looking for a Ruger P89. Those are so ugly they're beautiful.

OL, your going to love that G30. Mine is a great shooter and shoots as accurately as my friend's G21.

Keep the barrel lead-free as possible though. That octagonal rifling don't play well with lead fouling.

I have really good news! After a long nap, I attempted the installation of my Big Dot sight kit. I'm one of us unfortunates that always do projects twice with the second time to fix the screw ups from the first. The lit from XS is absolutely wonderful including all the stuff you need. I watched the video online twice, read the directions that are sooo clear even I understood. Now I have the Big Dots installed and except for repeatedly grabing up the slide to confirm they are pointing the right way, I'm done.

If I can do it anybody can. So if you happen to have one of those ***** Gl9ocks laying around and want Big Dots but are hesitant to install them your self, just DO IT.

PS: Thanks Bawanna for your encouragement. I'm not sure I would have attempted it otherwise.

OldBuddy, are you going to fix those missing pictures?

Congrats on the G30! I will be making full payment and getting my new Walther PPQ on the way to my FFL tomorrow morning. I am stoked! I won't jack your thread, though. I'll open a thread with pics in another few days.

Glad you got what you wanted. Am hoping it will be problem free for you!

Let us know how you are doing with it after a few days of carrying that extra weight and width compared to your PM9.

I carry an extra magazine, no matter which arm it is, not so much for the extra rounds, but rather in case of magazine or a bad feed failure.

You may find with the Glock plus the weight of those .45 rounds it's holding while hanging off one side of your body, the weight of a full magazine on the other side might help to offset some of that weight pulling on the one side of your spine. My back has found that helpful when I carry heavier pieces.

I've switched to Big Dots on almost all my guns.
Totally love those sights.
My Kahr MK40 Elite still has the factory NS on them.
But my Glock, two Sig Sauer and four Heckler and Koch guns all run Big Dots.

I do also run the controversial 3.5/NY1 trigger in my Glock.
If you think installing sights was easy?
Swapping connectors and springs is like a quick field strip.
There's a video where this guy swaps his connector in about three minutes with a punch and a butter knife.

Congrats on the Glock OL. I bought a safe queen G26 from a friend about a year ago. They might not be a very nice looking gun, but without question they are a solid reliable design. I normally carry my PM9 for CC but I've CC'd the G26 IWB on my hip when I felt that a pistol with a larger round capicity would be the better choice, and didn't want to go with a full size frame. It's not as comfortable a carry as the PM9 (very few small 9mm are) but it's not bad either. The longer I own it the more I like it. When it comes to the 45 acp though, for better or worse, I'm still one of those die hard 1911 fans. Enjoy your new pistol.

Congrats.

I went back and forth on the 30 or 36.

Ended up with a 36 just cause it felt so much better in my hand. The 30 is pretty thick. I grab the PM9 most of the time though.

I need to find some time to go pick up a 17 that is waiting on me.

I had a 36. It was ok, but redundant so I sold it. If someone gave me a 30 or a 21 I'd keep it.

If Glock would offer the 30SF with a G36 size slide I'd be inclined to buy it. I had a 30SF but didn't like the width of the slide. I almost ponied up for a G36 just to scavenge the barrel and slide for use on the 30SF.

I didn't like the Glock Grip until the Short Frame came out. Now it still feels fat but manageable and I find the grip doesn't twist in my hand. Maybe I needed a fatter grip all along but just liked the wrap the fist around I get with the PM9. I decided a test is in order. Grip your small gun and have someone push the barrel outward toward the back of your strong hand. Grip a fatter one and repeat. I think I'm finding what I want isn't always what I need. Now I want and need my G30 so there!

I've owned both a 30 and a 36. For some unexplained reason I always shot the 30 better. Not sure if it was the grip as you mention or just the gun or a bad day or what.
We have a female detective sgt here that always qualifies better with her 30 that she wears as a detective than the 21 she wears in uniform.

My H&K P30 40 has the new ergo batman grips.
Holding the gun at gun shows and at the LGS she feels heavenly.
But shooting her the grips feel narrow and feel like they are twisting in my hand.
Plus they have a skateboard tape texture to them that don't agree with me.
Put some rubber finger grove Hogue grips on her to deal.
Much prefer the flat conventional grips on my HK45C and P2000 guns.

And even though my Glock G27 feels something like a little brick.
I shoot that little brick better than most of my guns.
And have become very comfortable with the feel.

I've found that I really have to shoot a gun to determine if it agrees with me.
Just holding one isn't enough.

The 30 I held wasn't a SF. I hear it makes a difference.

I've considered selling the 36 a few times. I might still.

Congrats on the 30sf

I have one that is my cold weather pistol. I still have the stock sights and have not touched the trigger.......everything seemed to be just right. On a good day I shoot it as well as any other pistol I own. The PM9 still sees most of my CCW duty.

I love my G23. I am much more accurate with it. I hate to say it has turned my PM9 into a backup gun in pocket or ankle except when the G23 is to heavy or prints, which is not often. Still love my pm9. Just shot it Sunday. It has taken a while but I am slowly getting more accurate with it. But a 20+ yard shot I still prefer a larger gun.
