Way say you wise folks?
I expected something like this.
I'm gonna do whatever it takes to buy an AR15 and some ammo on the jiffy.
On another note, I will soon be in Texas, and a Missouri native.
I offer a young, capable body, a steady aim, a quick trigger finger and my wits about me. I dont have tons of guns, or ammo, but am willing to band together with others to offer my skills.

I appreciate the effort those states are making, but at this point its not the state, just some citizens starting a petition for their state. Good for them though!!!
The White House will eventually respond to those that DO pass the 25k mark and will say 'sorry, it is not possible to do that'. While the DoI has language to that effect, the Constitution and precedent are the law of the land. We tried it in the 1860s, similar action on both sides would be required.
Do I agree w/ it, nope, if Texas (likely to be the only one to really try this) is ever successful, I will make my way there...if I'm not already there at some point in the next 4 years.
I received two e-mails yesterday on this.

I remember to ride the horse and shout the Muslims are coming, the Muslims are coming, the lantern is 1 if by land and 2 if by sea but I only got 1 lanterns so the bastards better come by land, which makes sense since they are already here (duh). An the boats only 16 ft so might have to make a few trips.
It's aluminum so it should hold up against the raw sewage flowing in the Delaware.

Not so much "relinquished". Just backed the wrong side in "The War of Northern Agression".
Seriously, when I was in high school, I was on a school trip to Austin, and we took a tour of the Texas capitol building. In the rotunda, there were several documents on display. One of them was an old document, and the script was kind of funny, but if I read it correctly....this was the resolution, or whatever, that Texas passed when it withdrew from the Union (seceeded) when the Civil War began. Still on display. So while Texas might have once had the technical right to seceed, that horse has left the barn, so to speak.

You know, I totally forgot that the North-South unpleasantness took place after Texas joined the Union. Hummm, that throws a big monkey wrench in the whole secession thing. I guess it would take a better lawyer than me, or at least one with a different focus to figure that one out. Point taken.
BTW, the term "Civil War" is a misnomer since the South had no intention of usurping the government of the United States. They wanted to form a separate entity.

If you're referring to the states comment, while he was campaigning in 2008, Obama said that he had been to 57 states with one more to go. Personally, since he was educated in Indonesia and Hawaii, I doubt that he knew the number of states. Private schools in Hawaii teach Hawaiian history, not American.

Something else for secessionists to keep in mind:
http://gizmodo.com/5960290/this-is-the-real-political-map-of-america-hint-we-are-not-that-divided
"This is the real political map of the United States of America after the presidential election. A fascinating view, much different from the maps you saw that night, which showed an artificial, binary divide. But these maps demonstrate that there is not such a huge gap between rural and urban America."
"The third map of the column is much more accurate. Created by Mark Newman—from the Department of Physics and Center for the Study of Complex Systems, University of Michigan—it mixes blue and red based on popular vote percentage instead of showing a binary representation."
"There's no huge area of red. There is a gradient. A lot of purple. That's the accurate map that reflects the actual result of the election. It also shows that the divide between the cities and the countryside is not that huge. There are differences of opinion everywhere."

Well seems simple enough to me. Lets draw a line straight north and south from the east boundary of Missouri or whatever it takes to include all of Texas.
I'd like to include Tennessee but it can't be helped. We'll transfer country music to another better location, hopefully close to where ever I end up. Can't hear it good anymore but I still like it.
Everything East is the loser libs, and everything West is ours. Makes me sick to my stomach that where I live is so Blue.

I wonder if anyone who votes for secession can still legally answer "No" on question 11j of Form 4473 Part I?
You know, the question that asks "Have you ever renounced your United States citizenship?" on the paper thingy you sign your name on (and therefore give your honor-bound word to the accuracy of) when buying a gun?

Since the US Government is not likely to recognize the secession, they won't look at it as renouncement. So since they're calling the shots, you're not answering untruthfully.
Scoundrel
11-15-2012, 06:48 PM
Heck, even the rest of Snohomish County doesn't recognize the secession.
But the question is not asking whether you've legally seceeded from the US or not.
It is asking whether you've renounced your citizenship. And, since these folks have declared themselves separate, whether the government recognizes this or not, they have renounced their citizenship.
I don't really know, I'm not a lawyer, but that's how I see it.

I just did a bit of searching on this, out of curiosity. I don't have the time/patience to verify the authenticity of this information, but it sounds reasonable.
From a thread on the AR-15 forum (http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=1341376):
"To renounce your citizenship you must go to another country, and then go to the US Embassy there. At the Embassy you will tell them you want to renounce your citizenship, you have to give a statement stating this, and some paperwork. After that you are escorted out the Embassy gates and on to the soil of whatever country you are in.
Learned this at a SHOT Show seminar given by a retired ATF agent. The 4473 question about renouncing your citizenship was put in because of Oswald. Oswald had at one time left the US and lived in Russia, then came back to the US."
I don't know IF or HOW this is relevant to secession, but I guess if that's the way the government sees it, and you've never done it, then you're not lying on the app.
I have to wonder if the government has a list of people who have signed that secession application, and whether they get denied when they attempt to purchase guns.
I've skimmed the first page of this article in the Everett Herald (http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20001029/NEWS01/10290717) (Everett is in Snohomish County, but is South of the "contested" area. I will go back and read it more carefully later because I am genuinely interested in what this is all about, but from what I have seen thus far, it's a relatively small group of people, led by a nut case.

y'all are really making me sick with these disgusting images.... I think I'm gonna go outside, pull the clean out plug on the septic tank and stick my hand down there and see what I can fish out. Even that probably wouldn't get those disgusting pelosi images out of my head.

Wow, and I thought Hillary was ..... homely. Maybe we are getting an idea why Dems hate Sarah Palin so much. They are jealous the other side has all the hotties. :)

I've always had a thing for Ann Coulter. Slender, gorgeous blonde hair, plus that sharp mind and wit! :p

John, I see her as attractive but sure wouldn't want to drive with her on a cross country trip. She wears me down just being on O'Riley. A tad too crisp for me. Sarah is a women libber's dream and that's why they hate her. Just like Condie Rice is a black women libber's dream yet they claimed she wasn't really black and trashed her. Of course all those arguments that they used on Condie (she was ONLY half black) disappeared when half black Obama came on the scene.
We live in a strange world, we do. I'm kinda looking forward to Dec 23, 2012. Maybe the folks can get it right the next time around.

Obama Angry with Texas ! Says he will never come back here and will do all he can to convince us to secede! Here's why... THEY SAY THIS HAPPENED IN San Antonio last week!!! Obama will be making no more public speeches in Texas ...... He claims every time he gets up on stage to make a speech, some South Texas cotton farmers start bidding on him. God Bless San Antonio God Bless Texas ! Ya' GOTTA' Love Texas !!

Me too - I still have a picture from one of her books where she's sitting on the steps of a cabin firing a rifle into the woods. However, she's becoming more and more 'off the wall' lately. I think I'll switch to Michelle Malkin.

Every day when you wake up Scoundrel I want you to thank the Lord your not a lawyer. I do this myself. A good way to start the day.
Sorry J Noble Dagget.
Hey, Bawanna - I am a lawyer even if I no longer work at it. I think I'm offended. ;)

I'm sorry both that your a lawyer and that I offended you.
The fact that you don't work at it may be a sign of healing.
You know I love you (not in any mano mano way ya understand) despite your past.
My distaste for lawyers, judges, and authority are not good for me in my position, that is for sure.
