View Full Version : Suggestions on Removing Rear Sight

Changing out the rear sight on my Kahr CW45. Got the DP black rear, came with a punch and instructions. Problem is I can't get the stock factory sight to budge. I've hammered, hammered and hammered some more and that cheap little plastic sight will not move. Any ideas?:eek:

Take the slide and sights to a good gunsmith who has the proper sight pusher tool for a Kahr...You will most likely never get the sight off with just a punch and will likely damage the slide or the new sights...Kahr sights are very tight in the dovetail so it's worth every cent to let a gunsmith do it for you...

Hit it with some PB Blaster and let it sit over night. Next day, put it in a solid padded vise and heat that area up with a heat gun or torch (BTW, the rear sight is metal). Then use a proper fitting punch and a big hammer to drive it out from the left to right (as viewed from the rear). I use a piece of brass bar stock that fits the dovetail about perfectly;

What Greg said. Just make sure you really blast it more than once.
