Initial reviews have not been glowing.

I'll probably be in the minority here, but IMHO, Red Dawn was one of the worst movies I've ever wasted time to see. Bad acting, stupid premise, poor plot, poor dialogue, oh and did I mention bad acting. If Hollywood must repeat itself and produce remakes, then they should at least choose a good movie to copy.

Wynn is the resident expert, I don't know what the letters stand for but it's a bomb that takes out everything that runs on electricity. Cars I'm told that are in a concrete parking garage might not be effected, but computers, phones, anything with a battery is toast.

I don't find the idea totally unappealing myself, course many say I was born a 100 years too late anyhow.

I watched a couple of episodes of that Revolution series... crap. I bailed on it for several reasons, but doing away with the laws of physical science... no electricity is BS... I mean, really... not even batteries and stuff work, but some USB-Fob-like thingy can enable a computer to work... hooked up to what??? And vehicles running on gas after 15 years... and the stupid bimbo keeping the only smart guy in the movie from killing a BG... who caught up with them again in a day or so.... It was just too much.

I liked Red Dawn, but too wishy-washy. Maybe the remake IS better. That wouldn't be hard to do. I woulda thunk that CHINA would be the aggressor, not North Korea, but they could be proxies.

EMP... the most effective use of limited resources like small nukes and limited-capability missile. Check out One Second After the book by William R. Forstchen. It's a chilling look at what could happen with a couple of well-placed nukes above our hemisphere. It's a science-driven novel and predicts about 90% casualties with the well-coordinated 2-nuke attack using freighters off our coasts.

Korea can do this now and Iran is getting close to the capability, if Israel doesn't take them out first! Of course, Russia and China could easily do EMP attacks NOW!

It's a much worse threat than the BOMB of the 50's and 60's.

Just imagine... no electrical power grid... or anything connected to it. No radios, no phones of any kind... and MOST vehicles with electronics all dead. The LE community would be deaf, dumb, and immobile... just bikes and pre-60's vehicles at first.

Revolution COULD have gone with that concept, but NO, writers pulls a "magic" deal out of their a$$es.

I'm not an expert, but I did train to deliver localized EMP packages to targets in the Soviet Union. EMP was a "small side effect" with ground or low altitude bursts of a nuclear nature.:D

Yeah, I've thought about how nice it would be to have a running vehicle... then I remembered, it would be like running a generator and attract even more people that wanted to share your stuff! All of the LE/Military/Local "authorities" and especially the bad guys, would want to "confiscate" a running vehicle for whatever reasons... without compensation... or worrying about having to kill you for it.

One of MY big worries is that Wifey will be 9 to 12 miles away and everything quits working. I got her a folding bike and am trying to put together a Get-Home belt with a few aids that she could use for protection while trying to get home. A pistol, ammo, knife, pepper spray, light and some water... at least. That's where the P9 seems a better fit than the P380. And pepper spray might be better for someone chasing after her on foot... 2 or 4 legs!

I got in the ported barrel and will get around to posting pictures and a range test with pictures... soon. The night sights are dated... 8 years old, but I'm not worried so much about dark, though NOW that could become a problem. It's dark so danged soon now!

I'm holding out for a decent remake of Red Dawn, hope it flies as I thought the first was pretty good. Yes, acting did suck at times but the story I thought was a good idea.
