Greetings,

As you may remember, I am new to the Kahr family and I am looking to add night sights to my newly purchased PM9 (Bull-nose model). I am not 100% set on the XS Big Dots but from research performed on-line, I am heavily leaning that way.

Earlier tonight, I was bouncing around on Kahr's website and they offer the "Big Dot OLD Style" and the "Big Dot NEW Style" night sights, both for $120. What's the difference? Is the difference due to the new vs old PM (Bull-nose vs new) style or are the sights different? (Chop up my ignorance to being a Kahr newbie!)

If I decide on the XS sights, I am planning to send my slide to XS for them to perform the install. However, I am still curious as to the difference between what Kahr refers to the OLD vs the NEW style.

If it is a "new" style sight, do I want it or is the "old" style better?

Since I am still on the fence, is there another brand that you recommend I look at in lieu of the XS brand? I had Trijicon sights added to both of my Glocks and have no complaints. I do not have any experience with Meprolite, Novak, or any other handgun night sights.

Once again, thank you in advance for your insight and advice ion this matter!

Regards,
~WC~

Its just the way the dovetail is cut. The new style goes up at a slight angle and then the angle changes.

The old style is just a straight almost triangle.

I think the new style slides have a dimple ground in on the bottom of the slide.

They can be very tight, you may want to consider having them install them. You can go to Kahr or XS direct. Both will do the install.

WC,

Take a look at the graphic (http://www.kahr.com/Sights/Kahr-Big-Dot-Old-Style-Tritium-Sights.asp), under the product description. You'll see what Kahr means by "old" style. It refers to the dovetail keyway on the slide of your pistol, not a change in the sight's design.

You must purchase sights which match the keyway on your gun. The graphic (http://www.kahr.com/Sights/Kahr-Big-Dot-Old-Style-Tritium-Sights.asp)will help you determine which style you need.

new style sihts will not work with the old style dovetail and vice versa.

RRP says and shows it best.

there is alot of info on the kahr webbsite that IMO a prespectrive buyer should read to get a first hand info into what is what..

Thanks for the info and diagram/graph!

All,
For up close, personal protection, are the XS Big Dot sights the best option for my PM9? None of the LGS around me "specialize" in Kahr so I'm having to rely upon the opinions among my on-line community. From what I've read, most people seem to think highly of them.

Any thoughts of the fiber optic sights or Mepro?

Because of feedback that I have received off another thread I have going, I'm no longer 100% sold on the XS Big Dot night sights.

I've used Trijicon in the past but want to go with something different on my PM9. Any suggestions out there? If you have any pictures to go along with suggestions, that would be most helpful.

Whatever sights I decide upon, I will be sending it off for installation.

Thanks!

i have some xs sights for a blunt nose "old style" pm kahr laying around i'd sell you. The rear tritium vial broke but the front glows ok. Let me know I'll let them go for 20 bucks shipped. I also know someone that can install them quickly and much cheaper than kahr or xs. His site is xd-hs2000.com and name is James

BJ2,

Thank you so much for the incredible offer but I'm pretty sure that my blunt-nose requires the "NEW" style Big Dot style.

Mikey, they are all yours...
