View Full Version : Great Customer Service

I have yet to experience poor customer service from any gun manufacturer. I seem to rarely have problems with a gun, and have only ordered parts and accessories from Kahr, which they have fulfilled flawlessly.
I do have to mention an exceptionally good experience I just had on one of my other pistols, a Para Ordnance. I have one of their LDA 1911s and it is still one of my favorite pistols. It is the semi that I shoot best of any of them.
Anyway, the night sights had gone dim to dark on my Para. I was going to see what it would take to get a new set. While figuring out exactly which model I had, I noticed their Gold Medal lifetime service in the manual. It did mention that it didn't cover wear items, or something to that extent. So, my expectation was that a 10 year old dim night sight would come under the category of expected "wear" item.
I sent an email to customer service in the evening explaining I wanted new sights. I offered to purchase them if it was not something covered under their service.
The next morning I had an email from Para stating it is covered if I was the original owner. I told them I was in a reply. Shortly thereafter I received a fedex tag via email and instructions on shipping the slide back.
Off it went a few days later, and in a couple of weeks it returned with nice, new night sights on it.
I think that is pretty cool on a ten year old gun. It actually got me thinking I should look at what they are currently offering. My old one, that was built in Canada, is beautiful. My kudos to Para.

I really like the Para's too. That LDA trigger seems to be a either love it or hate it variety. I love it and have 3, well actually two, I gave my youngest son the full size single stack Limited for graduation.
I got the double stack LDA first, then the officer size and last the Limited 745. It was actually my favorite but also the best choice for the boy since he's cursed with left handedness and it had an ambi safety.
Really nice to have the feel of a 1911 without the c0cked and locked and a little more margin for error in the trigger.
I know Jeepster is an LDA fan too, I think he has about 10, all two tone green of course. Very pretty too.

I too love my Para LDA's. Sadly the market was not kind to them.

In 45+ years of shooting, I've had little experience with C/S - maybe I've been lucky. Back in the sixties I had problems with Browning and Colt. The Browning HP was debugged by a Navy armorer and Colt eventually made the 1911 right. Fast forward to the new decade. I had a really good Taurus 24/7 45. I should have quit while I was ahead. Two more Tauruses and nothing but problems. When the factory couldn't fix them I ditched all three and vowed never again. A KT P11 had a terrible trigger but that was the nature of the beast. A PF9 was ammo finicky so I sold both. BTW, that's when I bought my first Kahr, a CW9, so I can thank KelTec for that.
I have had one experience each with Kahr, S&W, and SIG not involving function and all were excellent. I had to send my STI 1911 back and they did fix it, but it never should have left the factory originally. Now Kimber, specifically an UC II. The included mag was junk. New mags fixed the problem, but when I contacted C/S, They refused to swap out the bad mag for the good one[s] even though I offered to pay the difference. That left a bad taste about Kimber.

I wonder how the double action version of the Colt New Agent sells, or if that trigger is near as nice as the LDA is. Para had some issues in the market, some of them self-inflicted from what I have read, but their customer service was exceptional for me recently. :)
Para recently was bought too. I thought they were pretty innovative a decade ago, the LDA trigger, double stack 1911s, etc.
I haven't handled one of those Colts, but they don't look as nice as my old Para.

The same could be said of the Kahr trigger. I like both. They are quite a bit different though. The frame size of my Kahr makes the trigger pull more difficult for me than the Para since my hands are pretty big. Both are nice and smooth though!

A Kahr with a LDA trigger would really be something wouldn't it.
The only minor downfall to both is the reset, almost like a DA revolver but I think many get to hung up on that too.
You get used to it, it's not quite as fast as a traditional Single Action but it's still pretty sweet. I like em both too.

Well include Bushmaster, Remington, Marlin, DPMS and others in that same group as they are also owned by Freedom Group.

The Soros/Freedom Group connection is supposed to be false. Here is one explanation of why: http://www.isra.org/alerts/freedom_group/
