How do you like those grips? I really like wood, but the ones I have tried are not easy on the hand.

I like them a lot. They are shaped just like the rubber Hogue bantams. They come out of the pocket liked greased lighnting.
As far as recoil, it's negligible between those and the stock rubber grips. I just prefer wood on my wheelies. I also like to keep a j-frame small by not adding overly-large grips. These fit the bill.

Where did you get the plug and how much trouble was it?

The Hogue Bantams are more compact than the stock grips, and they clear speed loaders better. The are shaped well. The rubber gives such a secure grip and definitely helps with the recoil.
Here is my 638 Snubby with Gloss Black Duracoat, ported barrel and a superb trigger job that results in a 4.25 lb DA trigger pull.

Here is the custom made, reverse canted, low riding, tuckable clipped leather AIWB holster that I conceptualized and James Dean made for me. The rounded edge is a comfort consideration, so there are no corners to dig into my soft belly. :o It works great!

James also made a beautiful black leather pocket holster for the 638, though I don't have a pic.
Here is a pic of the Lobo Enhanced Pancake holster I got for it, as well.

The Model 60 is long time companion. It has had the action slicked up, the trigger edges melted, the hammer slightly bobbed, been bead blasted, screw heads polished, and an XS big Dot front sight installed.

Along the way, I've had other grips and sights on it.

I bought this Model 60-3 for my mom sometime in the early 1990's when she lived in Atlanta. It's a .38SPC model with a 3" full lugged barrel and target sights. It is VERY accurate and can punch 1 ragged hole using Unique and the Hornady swaged 158's. Mom could always shoot it better than I could... my hands are too big but, alas, arthritis got the better of her and she gave it back to me some years ago.
Never was able to find a holster for it, though, beyond an ill-fitting Uncle Mikes; it really deserves a nice High Noon holster...

Nice revolver Charlie! I had one of those back in the day and still kick myself for selling it. I carried it in a Bianchi 5BHL (http://www.bianchi-intl.com/product/Prod.php?TxtModelID=5BHL).

Ding! Ding! I think you found a winner! ...all these years and I never saw a 3" Mod 60 holster at Bianchi. I'll have to put that on the 'To Get' list (a list separate from SWMBO's 'To Do' list... )
I believe this was some sort of pre-production model... it is as tight and smooth as my 1st Gen S&W57 (well... almost as smooth) and, as I said, very accurate. I never even saw this in the S&W catalog for some years after I bought it, and have never seen another in real life.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll be risking my $24+shipping in the next couple of months.

In the previous posts, some were asking about 3 inch J-frame holsters. If I can get my "jpg" pictures to posts, here are three choices. The first is a Milt Sparks Versa Max made of horsehide and shark. Ths holster is such a work of art, I hate to use it.
The second is a DeSantis Custom Shop Speed Scabbard. Nicely made and the fit is perfect. The last holster is an out-of-production Bianchi IWB #3. This last two were found on eBay at very fair prices.
The revolver is a S&W model 60 Pro Series with a 3-inch barrel. I can't think of any change I would make to this handgun. I tried a Crimson Trace lasergrip, but changed it back to the stock wood grip. The wooden grip feels much better in the hand.
Darn. I couldn't understand how one uploads "jpg" files. The KahrTalk icon for uploading images asks for a URL. There is no icon for attaching files. The jpg files are only 100 kb +/- each, so file size shouldn't be a problem. How do you do this on this website? Sorry for being so computer illiterate.

K9_Two_Tone,
The forum requires that new members have made at least 30 posts before they are able to attach photos via the board. You can still post photos, but the will have to be hosted off site. I like to use tinypic.com (it's free); once photos are uploaded there, they supply a url link with the appropriate "IMG" tags attached (you can just copy and paste that here).

Greg

I use Photobucket.com. Select the Direct Link and use the Picture button to place pics in my posts. It's free, too.

The 30 post rule would be good for the "classifieds section" too. It may keep the scammers away.....:blah: Not sayin we have had any....but it may keep it more honest.
