The guy next to me this am was using one of these.
Very impressive hand cannon indeed.
AMT AutoMag III with a 6.5" barrel and fires a 30 caliber Carbine bullet!

I own an AMT AutoMag III in .30 Carbine and it's one of my favorite (most fun) guns to shoot. It makes a really loud "bang" with a very large muzzle flash and gets noticed quickly by those shooting on either side of you at an indoor range.
It bought mine new about 15 years ago and it took a fair amount of gunsmithing work by me to get it to function with 100% reliability as it does now. It's also extremely accurate with good quality ammo.

The Automag in 30 carbine is cool and loud. I saw one recently that was "fixed" by Robar haing a Np3 finished frame and the slide sides polished. Looked slick and gave me wood until I saw the asking price... Cough, Cough.
The real problem was the slides would gall aginst the frames bacause of the type of stainless that AMT used. Had to put the right amount/kind of grease in just the right spots to keep-um running. I'll bet the Robars treatment make it run sweet.
