Picked mine up this morning...the family of M&Ps is growing.

You should really enjoy this pistol. I was lucky and got one in May. It is easily one of the most versatile semi auto's made to date. I have taken to appendix carry with that gun and the larger mag. There is something about that thumb safety that is a very comforting feature for me. As an old 1911 shooter it is second nature for me to wipe off on the draw stroke, and I can leave it on when clearing the gun.

Haven't fired it yet...but a trip to my farm is coming real soon. :)

Just curious as to which holster you are using for appendix carry? I am considering doing the same. Crossbreed Holsters has just come out with one. But, as that is brand new, you probably have another solution.

Thanks!

I came very close to getting a Shield or PPS.
Since I'm currently obsessed with H&K I ordered a P2000SK sub compact instead.

Congratulations!
Make sure to give us a Range Report after you receive the gun.

Does that shield come with two different mags? Would you be so kind as to show both in a photo, installed in the gun? I just picked up a S&W M&P40Pro and started looking at the Shield in a 40 too. I really like the M&P line. I still like my PM40 but have my one eye on the Shield. Would not need both, so I am keeping my other eye shut for now, especially after just coming home with the Pro. Ooops, wifey is watching me.....gotta go.

Yes they do, my photo shows short mag, other photo shows plus 1 mag.
My 40 Shield shoots fantastic, no failures of any sort in over 400 rounds. Easy to rack the slide, eats all ammo fed to it. It is my PRIMARY carry gun. I am so pleased I am looking to get an M&P 22 pistol now also.
The 22 is down the list however; I am now waiting on Ahlman's to finish my new toy, a Remington 700 30.06. I am adding flash suppressor, trigger job, Trijigicon 2.5-10 Acupoint scope. It is ADL model that is being converted to removable magazine. http://www.ahlmans.com/riflework.html

Oddly enough, I use my PJ's with standard FBI cant, IWB and appendix carry, and have no problems at all. I am tall and thin 6'3" and 200# and the longer grip length on the Shield is a slight advantage over my Kahr in the drawstroke.
My PM9 works fine with a PJ's, but my Garrett Silent Thunder works better due to the ability to adjust the cant, but it is thicker and less comfortable than the PJ's.
Get a GOOD belt regardless what you do.

My list too. I broke this news to the wife a couple of times over the past couple of weeks. She says I'm never done.....probably right.

Thanks for pointing out the photos of both of the mags in the Shield. Very nice package. I look forward to holding one soon. Geeezzz I would hate to trade in my PM40 or have it in the vault. She has been my loyal and faithful friend for over a year now and has been flawless for me. We will see what happens as I get to love my new M&P40PRO. That Shield and M&P22 may be the perfect companions for it. Not saying it too loud....not to worry just yet little PM.

It was a Hogue slip on, currently, Talon's rubberized, and they are great.

As a 1911 carrier for years it is my second nature to snick the safety off. I like it on the Shield because it can be left "on safe" while reloading a fresh mag and racking the slide. That feature makes it a great teaching gun for new shooters. It is also makes me feel a whole lot more comfortable using appendix carry.
