Well, it's about time! I was one of the crazies standing outside my local big box sporting goods store for more than an hour before midnight on Thanksgiving this year. I was 25th in line. Mad rush to the hunting lodge at midnight and I ended up 5th in the gun line, most others were after other trendy items and eclectic trifles. Coats and what not.
I was hoping to get a Mossberg 500 but unfortunately they were sold out. Took a gaze at the circular in my pocket and went for plan B, the Mavericks on sale for $60 off. I grabbed the last one available in the store, the 12 gauge six-shot 88 security model.
I know its not flashy or anything grandiose, but it will serve very well in its intended purpose of home defense and big boom stick as needed for my budget-minded family. First shotgun I can actually call my own.
All told, after the $60 store discount, $25 coupon and using the two gift cards I have been hoarding, I think I made out pretty well at $95 out the door.
The wife was happy about the price at least. Happy wife, happy life. And it didn't dent my ongoing collection for a rifle much at all, so I'm thankful. Now let's see if I can collect enough pennies and nickels for the Christmas sales!
