Recently I purchased from Bud's a new PM9 with the enhanced trigger, Model 9193 for $624. The regular style is Model 9093. Model number dictates which one you are buying. Two years ago I bought and later sold a PM9 because my thumb interfered with my trigger finger with the long trigger pull to the extent that it would not fire. Mas Ayoob in his book advised to use a special grip to correct the problem, but since I did not wish to try to remember a new grip in an emergency, I sold the PM.
After seeing the new model on Youtube, I decided to take a chance and try the new PM. First of all, I did not want nor do I use the thumb safey. The enhanced trigger pull is greatly shortened, lighter, and crisper, closer to a Colt 1911 with which I have the most experience. I fired 150 rounds of all types without any problems at 7 yard and 15 yard targets at my indoor range. First I benchrested it for accuracy, then shot two-handed and one handed rapid fire. It grouped within two inches, spreading to within three inches at 15 yards. It shoots much better than my old PM. POI is at the top of the front sight. Do not cover the target with the white dot on the front sight. I am so pleased it is now my EDC in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster.
Is it worth the extra money? The shorter-pull, crisper, lighter trigger makes it more accurate and the shorter trigger reset makes follow up shots faster. Self defense handguns are not the place to save money. 1911 fans should consider this model if they have a problem with hand size or long triggers on the micro 9mms for concealed carry. Try it, you'll like it.
