Well, a bright sunny day in Oklahoma today. Before you start jumping for joy we are forecast for 3 inches of snow Saturday.

My two friends and I traveled to the John Zink Ranch 40 miles North of Tulsa. The Ranch is 42,000 acres. Red Castle Gun Club has a small portion that has been developed into a volunteer driven terrific gun club. :cheer2: I have been a member for only 7 of its 40 years.

On to the range report. We setup an IDPA stage with five targets and two barrels for cover. The first three were to be shot with two to the body and one to the head. That requires a reload for the CW9. After the reload on the move to cover two shots to the body while advancing. Then the last target is to be shot with two to the body while retreating.

The first three targets were 15, 20, and 30 feet. Head shots took concentration. I often hit the head of the closest target, and missed the other two. I shot 150 rounds today and towards the end, the last three try's at this stage, I was able to hit the head shots and scored 5 down once with a time of 31 seconds. My pals were shooting an XD and a Browning Hi-Power. They were able to shoot the five targets in around 20 seconds or less with equal or better scores.

This is my third outing with the CW9. I improve with each effort. I am thrilled to be carrying a 9mm CCW pistol and have confidence in the pistol.

Because of back problems related to heavier pistols I was reduced to a P32 carried in the front pocket.

Thanks for the report.

I've got 300+ rounds through my CW9 and it's performing flawlessly. I get better with it every time out...and am really beginning to like its long-but-smooth trigger.

Nice report it sounds like you had a blast. You are right the CW9 is a very good choice of CCW weapon. I am rarely if ever without mine.

Kahr was way ahead of the crowd when it came to a small 9mm. They are easy to carry and good fun to shoot. Hard to go wrong with that:D

Sounds like a great gun club. Congrats on your CW9. My other guns see alot of the dark side of the safe now that I have discovered the CW9.

Sounds like you had fun.
I now have 450 rounds through my CW9 with no malfunctions at all. I shoot it better now that I am getting use to the long trigger pull. I was at the range a few days ago shooting steel plates with my CW9 and Glock 17. I shot at several distances out to about 25 yards and I was just as accurate with the CW9 as the Glock even though it is much smaller. After shooting them side by side I like the Kahr trigger better even though the pull is longer, it is just so smooth with no stacking. The Glock is a well made handgun that is indistructible but if I had to keep only one it would be the Kahr.

Its sounds like a good time. I think I will take my CW9 out to gun range Monday night. I want to start shooting IDPA with it. I use my Glock 34 for years when shooting IDPA.

I really enjoy shooting my CW-9. I have 8-9 hundreds rounds or so through it. I have shot 1911"s alot, but I carry the Kahr. I know what stress can do, pumped up on adrenelin can make you make mistakes. I feel safer with the double action. (Maybe my old school ways-used to carry S&W 642). For the range I shoot lots of WW white box 115 ball. For carry I keep Rem 115 HPs loaded. This thing really can spit-um out.

The club I belong to is having an IDPA match next weekend. I am going to see if the CW9 will make it into the "small gun" class then I can shoot it and the Glock.

Woodman, the IDPA my friends setup is not official. We have stands, buy IDPA targets from Target Barn, and wood from the local lumber yard. I really enjoy these private matches.

I did goto USAA and shoot a IDPA course with 35 other entrants in November. That was the first IDPA match I have attended in two years. I carried my Browning Hi-Power for that six stage match. USAA held the national IDPA match the week before and left the same stages in place. It would be an understatement it was a tough course. I did enjoy the challenge! I finished last or next to last. Let me add that two of the six stages were altered to make them less difficult for us mere mortals.

Several years ago I took part in 7 or 8 IDPA events a year and always finished somewhere in the middle of the pack. Age takes its toll. Even though I struggle in the official events I plan to attend several this year. I have lost 15 pounds and my back and knees are much better. I would enjoy hearing how you do with the CW9 in an IDPA match. Now that I have two spare magazines and a magazine holder for the single stack magazines I might try using my CW9 in an IDPA match.

I was very encouraged last Thursday by my performance with the Kahr. I took a backup pistol to the range in case the CW9 had a major crash. It did not and I shot it the entire day. Its a terrific pistol.
