I ask about this as I have an MK40 elite 03 made in 2007 on lay away at my LGS. Is this a common problem on MK's build around this time frame?

I've read about slides and even frames cracking on both the MK 9 and 40 but seems for prevalent in the 40 than the 9. Am I taking a gamble on this MK40?

I've checked it in the magwell area and the front of the slide and it doesn't have any cracks although it is a used gun that looks like it hasn't been shot much.

Thanks for any info on this guys and I do have a CM40 I love so I'm leaning towards this gun but am leary with these problems I've read about.

was never a real problem, we maybe have seen a half dozen posted here. Kahr always took care of um. fear not buy the gun shoot it like u stole it. If we could for see the future, we would be working for the obummer administration,... God knows how many thousands of MK40 are out there and doing well...

Wouldnt bother me in the slightest, if that is what I wanted.. You take a chance every day when u walk out that front dooor of your home and maybe even more of a chance even if u mouth off to your wife before u walk out that door. Just sayin

I can only speak for my MK40N, but it hasn't cracked. I'm getting rid of my 40's for 45's, but this one and the USP 40 are keepers.
