I recently purchased a CM40 and had read about the followers breaking and lo and behold it did happen very quickly to me. I found that the magazine could not be reloaded and upon checking found that a piece of the front on the follower had been shattered. I was not to happy about that at all. I found however that I could reassemble the magazine and remove the metal piece sticking out for the slide stop release and that the magazine shoots just fine. It will not however stay open after the last shot but a lot of the smaller guns dont work that way anyway and to me it is not that big of a deal. The weapon loads, ejects, and shoots just fine and I dont have to worry about the slide remaining open after a shot which it had been doing prior to its breaking. All in all I am happy with my CM40 and if another magazine breaks I will "fix" it the same way. I do not believe that the followers are properly assembled since so many have been broken.

callkahr ask for jAY OR EION AND TELL THEM WHAT HAPPENED, THEY WILL SEND U A NEW FOLLOWER,

I know u think u fixed it but again that is not righteither. get anew follower and shoot it again and see what transpires. If it works great, then ur good to go, if not then IO there is sumpin wroing withthe gun (more like the feed ramp) and I would askhahr to pick it up and fix it right. U didn't buy a POS here, u bought a damn great gun but it should work right.

I wish u were right on the assembly part of the followers, but IMO ur not.

even if u leave it as u fixed it, I would still get a new follower and have it around..

+1 on what Jocko said...You should get Kahr to send you a couple new followers if for no other reason than to have a spare in case it breaks again...There is a known problem with some of the PM/CM/CW 40 guns but not all of them....My PM40 has never missed a beat and doesn't leave a tell tale mark on the follower and has never broken one but after reading about all the issues I ordered 3 new ones just in case...

The issue is that on some of the barrel feed ramps there is a fraction too much length and the rounded bottom of the feed ramp contacts the follower on the last round fired sometimes breaking off a piece just as you reported....

Kahr will take the gun back on their dime to correct it...The fix is simply to remove a small amount of the feed ramp length so that it no longer contacts the follower after the last round in the magazine is fired....You can do the job yourself if you are handy with a dremel tool and several folks have done just that and no more broken followers but if you don't feel good about doing it just call Kahr and they will send you a shipping form and in 10 days or so your gun will be returned and will function perfetly....

I'm thinking that all you did was to file off the slide hold back tab and allow the slide to close after the last round which may or may not fix the real issue....My bet is that it will continue to occur until the pistol is properly repaired....Again this problem is hit or miss...some guns never have the problem but some do and if you will search past posts about this issue you will find many owners having to replace several followers only to have it happen again which is very frustrating and something you don't need in a CCW stake your life on weapon...I hope what you did corrects your pistol but IMHO it should go back and let Kahr fix it and keep it in warranty.......Oh and by the way, Welcome to Kahrtalk...Many many nice knowledgeable, friendly folks here always willing to help...Pay attention to what ole Jocko says as he is our go to guy we call "The Oracle" due to his vast knowledge of all things Kahr...Given time here you too will be able to read and decypher what he is typing but it takes a while but the end result is well worth the effort....Good luck and let us know how it works out!!!

Thanks for the input guys. I do know about the feed ramps but I really hate to send off the weapon since I only have 225 rounds through it at this point. I have other magazines and although this one functions it is not a primary magazine. Hopefully the issue will work itself out and if not I will have to send the weapon back for feed ramp work. Thanks again.

whaqt peole don't reaqlize is that when that 40 cal goes bang, there is just one hell of an explosin in that areaq. and hand cycling might not show any contact, but the bang thing is what causes things to channge and we just cannot see that. Maybe after a few more rounds down range thge gun will clearitself up also, but if it breaks anutter follower I would let kahr have it back to do their fix. U might be able todo it also but they know where the rea is that needs some additional filing etc. plus u won't fokk up ur warranty either.

Just shoot it like nuttin is wrong and if it occurs adress it then, but right now put that broeken follwer behind u and enjoy the gun.

I had one brokenfollower occur in my PM9 in over 32K+ rounds, I had extras and just brushed it off as sumpin over nuttin. Odd thing was the gun never faltered and I didn't koow it was broken even until I took the magazine apart fgor a just general inspection and out fell a peace of the follower.
