Thanks for the laugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Texas has good gun laws and many people carry. The robber was definitely stupid.
Hopefully, this is the end of it and the home owner doesn't have to deal with the courts.

Why would he deal with the courts (except to convict him)? He did not shoot him, even though Texas law clearly states that in that exact situation he could have. The fine people of Springtown would have No-Billed it...
I'm glad the home owner saved his BG arse by catching him this time. Keep doing that stupid stuff in rural Texas and he would have been shot dead sooner or later.

"open door policy"????? Not me..... my grandparents were the last generation in my neck of the woods to never lock their doors (except when they left the house, and then the skeleton key was left on the top of the door jamb out of reach of the neighborhood kids that robbed the icecream from the deep freeze).
I'm not sure what I would have done, other than to have had a locked door. Without evidence of forceable entry, it would have been hard to prove the guy entered the house "uninvited", so it might have been a bad thing if he had been perforated in the driveway. We do have certain provisions here in Texas for "after dark", but under the circumstances a dead guy in the driveway, with no evidence of having committed a crime, could have been bad juju for the homeowner.
I'm tickled to death that this all worked out so well.
