Saw this posted on my favorite sportsboard:

I could've been killed...need advice/suggestions
I'll try to make this as quick as possible.

I was gone from my apt for the weekend. I get back tonight, there's a note on my door saying..."contact me immediately" (# and neighbors name on it)

I look around my place and things seem normal, my door and windows are ok...so now I'm thinking "what the hell happened"

I take a closer look and all of the sudden I see this:

Immediately called the police, as I have no clue if this is part of another crime or what. I also need a police report on this incident because I'm GTFO of this joint.

Of course, it's been over and hour and no police are here yet. I'm a lil worried about the neighbor/s...I texted neighbor at first when I saw nothing wrong, then I texted again saying I'm calling the police, someone could've been killed.

1. I need to get the heck out this joint like yesterday.
2. I need my tv replaced.
3. I need to make sure some felon isn't in possession of what it looks like .45 handgun.
4. I took pics and video.

Any other suggestions/precautions I should take. Police are nowhere to be found, I want nothing to do with neighbor. Other than replacing my TV, paying my fees to break my lease? And to make sure that a felon doesn't own that gun.

I'm enraged/frazzled.

Any helpful tips are welcome.

Updates. 5-0 showed up.

Apparently a woman just purchased her first handgun, her "instructor" decided to practice and get familiar w said handgun at the apartment. Accidental discharge. I cannot begin to describe how stupid folks are nowadays.

The officer handling the case saw the receipt and gun that was legally purchased a few days ago, owned by this woman. I'm at least glad to know it wasn't a case of domestic abuse or whatever the hell she gets involved with.

I wanna sleep this crap off.

I wonder how the apartment manager will handle this, and if they will cooperate to allow me to end my lease, being that its the second incident where I've felt unsafe through the same party. Neighbor seems cooperative...I will seek $ for my TV and potential early termination fees? Depending on how the landlord wants to handle the case...I hope it's not a pain in the arse and I hope it doesn't affect my renters/credit rating in someway by terminating the lease early.

Too much crap to think about, but I definitely needed that police report filed, at least she'll learn a damn fine lesson. And she will now have an accidental discharge on file. What a pair of morons.

I think you are over reacting to an accidental discharge. There was no criminal intent and the chances of it ever happening again is doubtful. You must have been wanting to move before this happened or it wouldn't be that big of a deal for you. If not, have your TV replaced and the wall fixed by the Apt manager and all will be well. Get to know your neighbors.

Armybrat is not the original poster, he just did a cut and paste from another forum.

That being said, this is not an AD by any means, it is an ND!

You are correct on both counts.

I noted that it was something I saw posted elsewhere.

Didn't really mean to get on your case. Had to do something this morning that just about killed me. I actually broke down and sent my truck to a mechanic to check out and possibly change the fuel pump. This is only the second time in the last 48 years that I've sent any vehicle to a mechanic.

My wife says I'll get over it. I'm not so sure.

I understand that completely. Anything I can possibly do I do myself. Short of pulling an engine or transmission I do it all myself. I don't even like them doing warranty work because it's just not done to my liking and quality.

Tell your wife I said you are right in how you fell about it.

I think that the original poster should advise his neighbor to use bonded bullets to avoid jacket separation.
