I'm sure there are some guys in here that know a heck of a lot more than me about revolvers.

I'm looking at a used S&W 686 no dash. Good condition. No box or books.

I'm guessing it spent a heck of a lot more time in the safe than being shot.

What do you think?

Around $500 - $600 depending on condition.
Check gunsamerica and other online sources.

I got these for $500 each (65-3 & 640-1)

Barth's right. I purchased a 4", dash 3 for just over $500. It was in great shape, but it was a bit dirty. It did have the original grips plus some pachmyer grips.

Smith had a recall on the no dash until dash 1 or two. Most pistols had no problems and the owners did not bother. If it has the recall, an "M" is stamped on the bridge near the model number.

This one did not have the warranty work done.

Has never had any problems.

That is the price range i was thinking as well.

What are they asking for it?...The no lock models carry a premium price so anything around 5 Franklins would be on the money for a good condition 686

$550

I was going to ask if he will take $525.

Should I go lower? This will have to be shipped.

Never hurts to bargain and offer less, they can always say no but it depends on how bad they want to move it... I'd offer $475.00 cash and work up from there up to $525.00 which is about top dollar for that revolver...

I got mine for $399 :D

It has the "M" and is a sweet shooter.

Agree on offering $475. Most people prefer the 4" barrel as they are easier to carry. Good bargaining point.
