This is probably a stupid question but I need to know. Is it possible to shoot a 9mm round out of a CM40? I have loaded and reloaded and dry fired with 9mm in the CM40 and it seems to feed and eject properly. Can a 9mm round be shot out of this weapon? I can add an extra round and the recoil would be mild and the size is great. Can this be done? If not please explain why it cant be done?

Hi kevin1597 and welcome to Kahrtalk...It's possible to do that I guess BUT DON'T DO IT as the case won't be supported by the chamber and the brass WILL SPLIT and you will end up with a face full of hot brass shrapnel.........NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!..NEVER SHOOT AMMO NOT DESIGNED OR WITHIN SAMMI SPECIFICATION FOR THE FIREARM YOU ARE SHOOTING!!!!

I must also add this for thought....Twice while at the range I've experienced pucker factor 12 after a near accident....Once I had 4 inexperienced shooters and was trying to manage things but my mistake was to have too many different calibers of ammo out at the same time...One of the shooters wanted to shoot my .45 Colt SA replica revolver so I loaded it up for him and he shot it 5 times then wanted to go again so I let him load it...He got it loaded ok BUT with .45 ACP rounds that were on the shelf from shooting the 1911...

Well he got two to fire then nothing and started waving gun around telling me something was wrong...I got it away from him and saw the remaining rounds had slipped down into the cylinder and wouldn't fire...In this case it didn't hurt anything because the .45 ACP and .45 Long Colt are both low pressure rounds and have the same size bullet BUT there were also a box of .44 mag ammo on the shelf from shooting the 629 so THANK GOD he didn't pick up those and fire it or there would have been gun parts and hair all over the place....

From that time on I only get out ONE gun and the propper ammo to shoot at a time so that no wrong ammo ends up in the wrong gun with a resulting KA-BOOM ruining an otherwise good day of shooting...

On another occasion I was loading a 1911 .45 ACP magazine and something just didn't look/feel right and I checked the box and I was loading .40 S&W and they fit the magazine fine and may have even chambered and fired causing a real bad situation so it really pays to watch and pay close attention to what you are doing at all times!!!....

Thanks for the input. I was just wondering if it were physically possible to fire the 9 out of the 40. I know there are conversion barrels for the Glocks but these rounds are so similiar and they do feed and eject properly. Thanks again.

It is something to be on guard against when around both calibers. The rounds will fit in both magazines and the Kahr magazines will fit in both pistols. I keep my .40 with the .45's... same drawer, and have the magazines and holders marked.

Ok, upon doing extensive research realized that the firing of the 9mm thru the 40 barrel is not a very good idea, Others have done it but I will not be one of them. When I shoot I generally only shoot one weapon so mistakes with calibers will not happen .Thanks for the input received.
