Doctors
(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is
700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians
per year are
120,000.
(C) Accidental deaths per physician
is 0.171

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of
Health and Human Services.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Now think about this:
Guns
(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S.
is
80,000,000.

(Yes, that's 80 million)

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths
per year, all age groups,
is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths
per gun owner
is .0000188

Statistics courtesy of FBI

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
So, statistically, doctors are approximately
9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.'
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN,
BUT
Almost everyone has at least one doctor.
This means you are over 9,000 times more likely to be
killed by a doctor as by a gun owner!!!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Please alert your friends
to this alarming threat.

We must ban doctors
before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Out of concern for the public at large,
We withheld the statistics on
lawyers
for fear the shock would cause
people to panic and seek medical attention!

Good rebuttal from the Armed Citizen...

How many have to die before we do something?

How many more tragedies does it take before we do something? How more children have to die before this country realizes that Gun-Free Zones create perfect locations for violence? . . .

Mass shootings happen in Gun-Free Zones. Coincidence? There is a simple solution to mass killings. Arm thyself. Not necessarily for personal defense—but thats as good a reason as any—but as a known deterrent. Discussing the recent events with a friend and national gun blogger, he asked me what the solution was to school shootings. I said arm the teachers. Having armed teachers will act as a deterrent and take the advantage away from an assailant.

Armed security guards at offices, banks, stores, etc. are not about killing violent criminals in the act, they are about deterrence. You can’t stop criminals with laws, you can only stop violence with the fear of armed victims.

As a follow up, my friend asked me if there was any precedent. Sure is — Israel. When they were afflicted with plane hijackings, they put armed officers on every plane. Every plane, mind you, not the minimal and random selection the U.S. chose to do. With armed officers on every El Al flight, hijacking stopped. Period. In the same way, when Israel experienced school shootings, they armed the teachers. School shootings stopped. Coincidence? I think not.

While our side is winning court cases, with lots of help from the Second Amendmend Foundation, we are loosing the PR battle—the gun grabbers own that... for now.

Instead of playing defense after every tragic shooting, the pro-gunners need to attack. We need to attack the laws that prevent people from defending themselves and we need to attack the laws that enable criminals. We need to do this NOW.

The only thing that can stop an armed bad guy is an armed good guy.

(Reuters) - Drivers distracted by talking or texting on cell phones killed an estimated 16,000 people from 2001 to 2007, U.S. researchers reported on Thursday.

There are plenty of deaths that can be mitigated without loosing our basic freedom to protect ourselves.

Politics rarely makes any sense to me at all.

Not to be negative-nelly here, but...

How many other places have statistics and logic made a difference. Have folks in the UK been able to gain the ability to own guns again? Australia? Canada? Nope. Even the so-called bastian of government endorsed gun ownership (Switzerland) has moved much further left than even here in the last decade.

It's not gonna happen folks. The anti-gun crowd is growing and the vocal among them are NEVER going to change their mind. Where are the pro-gun-rights voice in all those other countries now? Nowhere, that's where. The only hope here is that today and other recent events have resulted in knee-jerk reaction of the gun-control crowd and that it eventually dies down. The other hope is that (I suppose) nowhere in the world where gun-control has occurred (see above) were guns owned in the quantity as here, nor was it so ingrained in so many in society as a basic right. It was part of many of those places 'constitutionally', but alas, they lost those fights in short order. But here, it's a much bigger job, similar to Obamacare vs Canada's health system. It's going to be tough for Obamacare to succeed and it'd be equally tough for gun-control in the form of complete bans on some things to be successful as well. Dunno, just thinking and 'freaking out' out loud today.

Dunno, maybe I'll feel better in the morning. Just feel some tough decisions are coming in the coming months and near-years regarding whether you keep your firearms illegally or get rid of them to survive as best you can in the new world order.

My foil hat is pretty snug today...

Not to be a wet blanket either, but there's a big difference between a doctor's mistake and some troubled idiot's deliberate act of violence.

Better to point out the deliberate acts of violence perpetrated on whole populations by leftist dictators who first banned guns to clear the way for their agendas.

Yeah, the comparison of physicians trying to save lives to a crazed gunman is a pretty darn lousy comparison.

Good points, everyone. Another point is that the secular, amoral, immoral, traditional values denying, God denying brainwashing by progressives in our society has produced this new generation of lunatic killers. So, are we now going to let these evil morons disarm us?

It is rightly said that, instead of acting like we are on the defensive, we need to boldly and aggressively proclaim the truth that armed citizens, armed teachers, armed employees in every bank or business that is likely to get robbed, and agressive enforcement of laws that legitimately deny gun ownership to criminals and crazies is clearly the way to prevent such tragic occurences and cut way down on violent crime overall.

That's a good start.

The tough part is going to be continuing to sell and convince folks that we SHOULD have guns available to law abiding citizens. First, they are going to make the 'rest of the world does not allow this anymore' argument, which you really cannot argue against. They can quote as many misleading, incorrect, twisted statistics as you can and there isn't much you can do about it. Statistics do not matter when heart-strings are pulled and rational thought is out the window. Second, the general public, as mentioned in other posts here, are becoming void of morals, ethics, and ANY desire to be the country that we started as. Everyone is now more interested in 'evolving' to the next level of government, society, individual. They have no interest in true freedom and will continue to give lip-service to the fact that they are free while simultaneously having their freedom eroded to the point of being a subject or a serf of the federal government.

I think the foil is fused to my head now.

Note this was posted BEFORE the tragedy of the school in Ct! Not a comparison to that at all!
