"Forget that debate about guns.
My son is mentally ill.
I love him but he terrifies me.
I agree that something needs to be done.
It's time for a nationwide conversation about mental health."

I've read some stories suggesting it's not even about mental health, it's about a massive banking scandal coverup and/or a CIA plot.

Just had this discussion with my dad, who tends to lean just a bit to the left but is the person who got me interested in the shooting sports and hunting at a young age. And, as just so happens, I had to fill out yet another 4473 today (Mosin Nagant) and brought up the fact that one of the questions has to do with your mental stability, or lack thereof.
I brought up a few recent "cases" about if just one person had reported the individual for being mentally unstable they would not have been able to legally purchase a firearm. I also brought up the fact that the two latest cases, the law actually worked (though on this last one the individual was too young).
He agreed with me that we do not need MORE gun laws, enforce the ones we have. He also agreed that way too many folks do not want to report a loved one for being "crazy". When I pointed out the last two had to STEAL weapons as they couldn't purchase legally, that really opened his eyes.
That's when I realized, legal gun owners may start to be held liable if their firearms are stolen because the were not protected behind the walls of Fort Knox.
Not feeling as chipper as I was before this discussion.
