View Full Version : NRA Response To Newtown Shooting
After several days of silence since the Newtown shooting incident, the NRA released a brief statement (http://home.nra.org/#) today.
The statement contained the following message:
The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.
What do you think the NRA will offer to "make sure this never happens again"?

I honestly don't know, but I sincerely hope they don't do what Cheaper Than Dirt has done. They're losing Likes on Facebook like crazy and the comments are horrendous. CTD has lost any business from me in the future.
If NRA caves, I am done with them

I'm not worried about the NRA, they have too much to lose by caving.
They need to take off the kid gloves now.

Had they spoken up too soon, they would be labled as heartless gun nuts that don't give a crap about the kids, just their weapons.
Sometimes biting your tongue and showing respect and control is a virtue. I believe they will do all that is within their power to stop the punishment of 80K law-abiding gun owners for the deeds of less than a handfull of evil nutjobs.

Some folks on another gun forum I frequent seem to think even if they come out with some decent ideas or even swinging that they will ultimately cave this time because of the situation. Basically give up some stuff to keep others. Those same commenters are saying they will pull their membership if the NRA does that. Dunno what that ultimately means, but if people bail on them for that and they loose the power they have built, the 2a is done in this country. No other lobby has enough traction imo.

If you are a member of the NRA your damned if you do and damned if you don't by the progressive socialists. The NRA will stand where they have always stood, on the side of freedom and the second amendment. The NRA has the courage of it's convictions.

Agreed. If they had come out earlier they would have been pilloried in the media. Wait respectable amount of time and get slammed also.
