View Full Version : New PM9094NA
Love my new PM9094NA! Excellent CCW. Great Sights.
After I inspected my new PM9, I noticed that the slide is missing the witness mark (see attached photo).
I guess this was a production oversight.
Will call KAHR to discuss replacement of the slide.
The quality and fit is more than I had hoped for.

Looks nice, never tire of looking at gun pictures. No witness mark, one less place to collect dirt, grime, lint etc.

Congrats on the new pistol: a nice looking one at that:cheer2:
If it's a good shooter, I wouldn't sweat the missing witness mark. The two on my CW45 are offset from each other at the point I can remove the slide stop. I just eyeball the slide stop and the take down notch on the slide to do a dis-assembly. I'm an old 1911 hand, so that is pretty instinctive; I wouldn't mind not having a witness mark on the slide at all (IMO that would make for a cleaner look).

That too!

That's a good point too, if it runs good, why take the chance of getting a slide that don't. It is a cleaner look too. Maybe it'll make rare bird status someday, never know.
Greg, thanks again for the donated avatar, getting all kinds of positive comments on it. Trouble is everyone thinks I know computer stuff now, which is a bold face lie. I've sent a couple guys your way for help I couldn't provide.

Congrats and welcome!
That is rare, Kahr have a take down block, but it cannot be use with the PM9. But me I would not worry about it if is not affecting the function of the firearm. I take my down with out looking and push the pin out with my hands. Yes I am that strong!!!!!!!!!!

No. It doesn't work with the polymer-framed guns. "Only K9, K40, K40 Covert & E9".
I have a takedown block and even the small part is too large. You just need something about 3/16" in diameter or thickness -- what ever's handy that holds the slide in place for removing the slide release pin. I can hold mine lined up with the second cutout in the slide and push the pin out with my finger. With my PM45, I have to tap it with a screwdriver handle after I stick something of the correct size between the side of the chamber and the slide. Something made of wood or plastic the right size will do ~3/16", sturdy enough to not be crushed.
I wouldn't risk more problems to get a little mark on the slide.

I've taken a fine emory board to the slide stop catch where the spring seats in the channel. Smooth it up real good and you'll be able to push it out with your finger. I always look at the half-moon cavity to get mine lined up anyway.
Here's where it should be:

man, forget calling kahr, most would kill to not have that cut in their slide even. Just forget about it. It will effect zero, won't change your disasembly methods either. Most tha tI know don't even use the witness marks even. Look at the cut out int he slide lock lever and u will figure that out real fast.:israel::israel:
You have a nice shooting nice looking gun ....LEAVE IT ALONE..:israel::israel:
PLEASE listen to all the good posters who posted replys ahead of mine.

not sure, but you might be a little out of spec there. On my PM45 I pull the slide back with one hand and just push on the release with my free hand and it pops right out, same with the other 3 Kahrs I handle on a regular basis (a PM9, a K9, and a CW9...they aren't mine).
But back to the OP, I don't even use my witness mark, I grew up on 1911's so I just line up the cutout.

those witness marks IMO are about as useless as **** on a boar. The only gun I have ever seen with these are kahrs. Definitely not needed. Also definitely doesn't hurt a damn thing by being there, nor not being there either.

I agree, they are useless, but for the record they were on my CZ75P01 too. Useless there too.

nice to know that, I just figured kahr was the only one, with such an innovative super duper great idea, that they might have even spent $20 grand to patent such an invention, that no doubt has saved numerous hours for a shooter to be able to take his gun apart!!!! Hel they should have welded a nub on that witness mark even, that way a fella could have taken it apart in the dark, which I how U normally clean my guns, so if any parts fall out I won't see them or miss them..!!

OK, I think you guy's have missed a important thing here !
I agree the witness mark is not all that important..BUT,
It does show that something WAS missed in the machining process AND, that QC missed it. This crap seems to be happening A LOT at KAHR . Just like the " NOTCH " being omitted on many PM45's. It also looks like there may be mass problems with the 380's too.
KAHR needs to up there QC to match their prices, there are just too many complaints on this forum about QC issues to ignore.
missed it, but certainly not a quality/reliability thing in any way. Can u elaborate on the "mass problems with the 380's. I must have missed that...

He might have been talking about me. I sometimes feel like I belong in the reject pile. That's ok I can take criticism. For once the QC mistake might be a good thing, think how much they could save letting all the witness's go.

Dang! You guys ain't said nothing about MY last two avatars! I guess I shoulda used the that looong-tongued girl.
My wife and I watched Powder Blue last night -- she picked it out... I told her I didn't know what the heck it was about, but that I knew Jessica Biel got naked in it. I still don't know what it was about, but Jessica Biel was nice. My wife didn't like the movie -- disappointed -- thought it was going to be an action movie about drugs... she can really pick some winners sometimes.
I need to get going and shave and get ready for our 24th Anniversary dinner tonight at Longhorn Restaurant. I'm gonna see if I can squeeze my PM45 into whatever pants I wear... if'n I can find some that fit... especially with something besides me in them.:D
Later.
