Well saw it first hand. Lines out the door. Cant get .223 and 5.56 is going for $ .50 per rnd. People are grabbing ammo like crazy. It is really insane. I said I will take the xyz and the reply was "just sold the last of of it".

I just went to my local Walmart. They were completely out of 5.56, 9mm, .380, and nearly out of .22, .40 and .45.

Crazy!

2008 Deja Vu all over again...Nothing to be found anywhere...Say what you want about Obummers economic policies not working to cure the recession, he sure knows how to rev up ammo sales!!!!...

I have always thought this is how the Gov would handle gun control...You can have all the guns you want but ammo will be taxed over the moon to support Obummer Care....To some folks it won't matter but I can't afford 100 bucks or who knows how much a box for range time....I am also pretty sure that reloading will also be taxed extensively or made outright illegal without some kind of unobtainable special ATF license....

All this because 3 nut jobs did the unthinkable and snapped so now everyone must suffer because it would be too un PC for some teacher or relative to say, Hey these kids are total whack jobs and we better get them some professional help before they kill somebody....Well too late now!!!

Yep the .000001%( criminal insane) of the population is directing policy for all of us. Mind you it is policy to " protect us from them". Like I saw somewhere here. A few guys used box cutters to ultimately kill 3000 people so we ban box cutters.

My Walmart had 6 boxes of 9MM. I found some 5.56 @ 65 cents each. It is very hard to find any ammo here. There are no .22's anywhere.

Tonight, two of my LGS's were out of cheap .223. They used to have a ton of PMC at $6 or $7 for a box of 20. Now they only have the $13 box Federal varmint rounds with a 3 box limit (to keep hoarders away). That is $.65 per round. Ouch.

And it's had another spill-over effect on me: my gun piggy bank I had set aside to buy my wife a CM9 got spent on something else.

My first gun purchase priority had been a CM9 for my wife's purse, in anticipation of the Woollard federal court lawsuit against Maryland's anti-carry law going our way.

Further down the road I had hoped to get my 14 yo daughter her first rifle: a Smith & Wesson M&P15-22. I figured a 22 would be a good first choice, and with a collapsable stock it would be an excellent gun regardless of whether she or I were firing it.

Alas even though it's not an AR, it is still built on the AR style. I checked with my local gun dealer, and sure enough there was a run on those too - pretty much anything that has any resemblance to the future banned guns.

So I broke open the piggy bank and had him special order it. I got the impression that this was pretty much the last one available from any distributor pretty much any where. So I was both glad to get it, and sad that I had to get it now.

FYI Maryland legislators have already announced they'll be introducing their own state legislation, making our already draconian gun laws even worse. So regardless of whatever happens at the federal level, here in Maryland where the Democrats control the state big-time - we're hosed.

Oh well, at least my daughter will be getting a good gun.

I just figured out how to get this economy moving again. All that we have to do is threaten to ban everything and it will sell like hot cakes. Maybe we should just let cooler heads prevail. What say you?

I saw 500 rounds of Federal 193 go for $615 on gunbroker last night.

Ordering 556/223 ammo has been a challenge.
Got tactical and target ammo on the way.
My Bulgarian AK47 pistol will arrive on, or very near, December 26.

What a year this has been!

My local Walmart is pretty wiped out also, but I've been buying various calibers by the case the last few months so I think I'm OK for now. Yesterday, I ordered enough primer, powder, bullets and cases to roll 3000 rounds of .40 cal.

I am thinking that I might have to be a brass monger if these prices keep going up.

Brass rat. Brass Rat. I heard that earlier and it's kind of catchy. I've been a brass rat for years.

Most of my guns have never shot a factory load except during break in and carry rounds.

Its to the point where I might have to reload carry rounds too. It'll be a must if they do as I predict and tax bullets and powder and everything gun related. I see it coming, hope I'm wrong.
