Hi all.
I've owned a PM9 for about 18 months. I always felt the trigger was a little longer on this particular example than it was supposed to be, but I am aware that its long by design and just figured I'd live with it. I haven't fired the Kahr in about 6 months, so I got it out today for some dry fire practice. That's when I discovered that the trigger was no longer releasing the striker. This also prevented takedown of the pistol. After fiddling with it for about 30 minutes I finally got the gun to dry fire and was then able to take it down. Once disassembled I could see no obvious problems, but I note that the trigger can move about 1/8" before the little 'rocker' piece at the back of the gun even starts to move.

Anyway, I reassembled and the gun is now dry firing but I have to pull the trigger ALL the way back to release the striker - ie. about 3/4" of trigger travel (measured at bottom of trigger)

So... Is this normal? I'm now second guessing myself and wondering if I just wasn't pulling the trigger all the way back before. I swear I remember that when I first got the gun I didn't need to pull the trigger ALL the way though.

Thanks for your input!

How about giving that striker channel a damn good cleaning, . Ur kahr trigger is 3/8" trigger travel so basically that menas before the striker is release its gonna travel 3/8". Ur trigger travel is o longer than any outter PM9, . when the striker is finally realeased, my Trigger is damn near back al lthe way, it travels no further when the striker is release, so I am gonna say ur OK..

Beingu hav enot fired it in 6 months, maybe what u thought it did earlier is not really what happened either. I would though give the striker channel a good cleaning.

refer to the propper prepping threads for a quick way to clean that chanel area. I would then go out and shoot the gun to see how things work out....

I just checkedmy K9 and when the strikeris finally release my trigger is all the way back, when it release,my trigger really goes no further.

Thank you. I did clean the striker channel but didn't notice a perceptible difference. Basically the trigger bottoms out and then I have to squeeze really hard to get the striker to release. Think I'll swing by a Kahr dealer and see if I can compare. It just doesn't seem right to me.

Sounds more like a trigger bar or trigger bar spring issue to me.

I'd send an email to Kahr and describe those symptoms and see what reply you get. The trigger shouldn't be bottoming out and the travel seems excessive.

no thatis nt right. If it is bottoming out and no release, then it is not right. Not a badidea to see anutter kahr though. Makes sese actually. I am just guessing based on what ur saying to. Not sure if u can do it or not but asur pulling back the trigger, press real hard on that back side plate on the right side of the grip. See if thereis a change..

Thanks for all the replies.

Pressing hard on the side plate/cover prevents the striker from releasing at all, no matter how hard I squeeze the trigger.

Bawanna is on the right track. Sounds like the trigger bar "jumped the rails" or is out of spec somehow. Your description sounds like it was faulty from the git-go. The trigger should break way before it bottoms out against the back of trigger guard.

I would record a video of the trigger pull motion and send it to the service dept so they can see the issue and not assume you're just another idiot. I would then insist they send you shipping ticket so it doesn't cost you any dough to get it back there.
