Before accepting a gun from your local FFL, bought on line, what should you be checking for, beyond the obvious dents and scratches. The on line dealer cautions to check the gun over before accepting it. If you find a problem they say they will pay to return it for a new gun.
So, in terms of function, etc., what do you experienced Kahr owners suggest I check and look for before accepting the CM9?

Just rack the slide ,pull the trigger and see that the mag locks in well, everthing smooth and tight. New pistol right?? If you have a problem you would probably will not know till you start shooting it.
Use a 124gr fmj ammo at first to ensure you have enought energy to cycle the slide for atleast during the first 100 rounds and use the slide hold back/ release at first till the recoil spring softens up or you master a sling shot with those heavy recoil springs. Not easy for most or reliable for many.
Clean and lube well and hold on tightly. Great little pistols. Most times any problems are first ammo related so have 2 different brands on hand. Followed be shooter enduced problems as recoil can be heavier than some can deal for many rounds .
Many of use have had our pistols run great right from round #1 . My two have right at 1150 rounds each with zero problems. One was bought used and was not reliable for the original owner, for me its been great !!??
My problem of dealing with the LGS you ordered from IF you have a problems is have to replace handgun and dealing with a new serial number. You allready processed one handgun in your name and then getting a different pistol? I would send it in free on kahrs dime before sending it back to who you bought it from. That way its your pistol deleivered from your door and back to your door, not a your local ffl.

I mostly look close for cosmetics as you suggest. I like to rack the slide to see if it's relatively smooth although it may not be glass smooth being new.
I'll rack and dry fire, then rack and dry fire and keep the trigger back to check for reset.
Put the mag in, try to pull it out without pushing the release. Push the release and see if it releases properly.
Mostly just check to make sure that what's suppose to happen is happening, although the true test is shooting which you can't do.
Anything mechanical is really not an issue, Kahr will take care of it, cosmetics are a may or may not situation depending on what it is.

Dry fire it. See if it the trigger feels "right". Slide will be uber-tight at first, but should be somewhat smooth.

Thanks folks, pretty much what I thought, but figured can't hurt checking with experienced Kahr owners to be sure I wasn't missing something not obvious.
