So I have a new cm9 that is going in for a warranty issue. While it is there I am gong to do something with the sights. I actually like the stock dot the i setup, but want night sights.
My first thought is to have kahr put on just the front trijicon front and leave the stock rear alone. This would work well as the sight picture would be the same during the day but at night the front would be the only reference I'd really need anyway.
I have been eyeing the xs big dots, but cannot find a definitive answer as to whether they now have a front sight that will work with the cm9, being pinned and not having a dovetail.
Does anyone know if xs does offer that as an option that kahr offers?
Thoughts on both the xs option vs the trijicon front?
Any issues with the big dots and holsters? I am thinking for getting a silent thunder.

With only the front sight changed to a Trijicon you wouldn't be able to tell if you were holding high, low. left or right. You need the rear sight changed as well. The kit runs $80.00 from Kahr. If you don't have experience changing a dove tail sight I'd recommend having Kahr or a competent gunsmith to make the change for you.

I understand what you mean, but in a defensive night situation, I think it would be distracting to have 3 dots. I'd rather just have the front sight to focus on. I have the 3 dot setup on another pistol and in the dark it seems like you have 3 floating spots and it takes more time to line up a shot. I really like the "i" sight picture of the stock sights, and this lets me keep that for daytime use.
A front only would at least give you a reference for what you are pointing at. I know I'm not the only one who likes that setup.
I would go with an XS setup with the tritium line rear sight, but it seems you cant get a front sight for the CM9.

I like that setup too if I can't get different color rear tritium inserts cost effectively (like the ameriglo operators for Glocks, etc).
I currently have a Dawson tritium front only on my CM9. I painted it white then bright orange. So I get the benefits of a post/notch sight picture for accuracy when needed, and the bright orange front stands out for close distance fast sighting.

There are XS sights available that fit Kahr pistols with pinned/post front sights. You'll have to call to inquire about them.

In a real life SHTF situation you won't be looking for your sights. You'll be looking at the perp and will point and shoot. You won't have the time to do anything else.

From personal experience, what he said. Unless you train really really hard and often. Also feel that point shooting and slide indexing is what you should practice/train at close range.

Call who? XS or Kahr? Customer service at Kahr has said they can't be put on a cm9 but clearly they can. Maybe kahr wont install them but XS will?

I just ordered the front for my cw9. Not a fan of how easy the cw/cm front sight is plastic and how easy it breaks off.

Will be installing it when it gets here. I also like the i sights. So swap front is good enough for me.

Sorry, call XS.
I emailed them. Waiting to hear back. But my pistol is on its way to kahr so I am wondering if they would even install them if I got them from XS and sent them to kahr.

Damn. I really like that setup. For that price I might have to give them a call and get some more info.
So I wonder if kahr just won't install a pinned XS sight, or if they just don't know they exist...

I have seen all these links. The sights they wil do are the ones you posted. I'm referring to the xs big dots that they won't do, but others are saying exist and have pictures to show they do. That's what I don't understand.
I contacted the same shop that custom cm9 came from. Seriously considering having them do the work when mine gets back from warranty work at Kahr and canceling the sight install.

My gunsmith called XS directly and XS told him that they are only available direct from XS. This was a couple months ago. The gunsmith installed them for me. Love them.

Got my cm9 back today with a replaced barrel. I'm a little disappointed because the new barrel does not have a polished smooth feed ramp. In fact it has machine grooves on it. I emailed support about it with pictures to see what they say. I just hope they'll send me a new barrel and not make me ship the gun again. Is the barrel just a drop in replacement with no fitting needed?

Update:
Kahr is sending me another Barrel. I just want to get this thing to a range and try it already!
