View Full Version : Few questions about my new cm9

I shot almost 100 rounds through my new CM9 today, and I like it. I was having some issues with it functioning correctly if I loaded it 6+1. The first round would go bang, then it wouldn't get the next round. I could rack the slide and it was fine, which I find odd. I cleaned the pistol VERY well with brake cleaner, and lubed accordingly. I also racked the slide a bunch of times.
Closer to the end I was having no issue, but IDK if it was a stiff recoil spring, or maybe even me pushing up on the slide stop. I was pleased with the accuracy, and recoil, but of course I am a little worried about the problem I had.
I went ahead and took the mag apart tonight, and found it had very thick and sticky oil in there. So it is possible all these problems are related to the new firearm and sticky mags.
Another 100 rounds next time will tell, and I will have two other magazines for it by then as well.

You can ignore the G17.

This is a common problem with a brand new gun and loading 6 + 1. Don't worry, nothing is wrong with your gun. The springs just need to take a "set" which will require another 100 rounds or more.
To eliminate the problem until the springs set, do not load the max amount of bullets. I have found loading 5 at a time in the mag durning the breakin period will eliminate your problem. These guns are too tight to force in those extra bullets until they are well broken in..

That is what I figured. I hate guns that need a break in, but this is my favorite feeling small 9mm. I want it to work out.

You will grow to love that CM9 and it will be your favorite carry gun, unless you buy a couple other Kahrs to compete with it and then you'l have to choose.:)

I'm itching for more trigger time with this gun. I'm also eagerly awaiting a pj holster for it. I'll be able to carry this gun at 3 o'clock VERY easily.
I'm also awaiting some spare magazines to come in. What carrier should I get?

It must be luck of the draw. My new CM9 worked perfect from first round, except the first 7 rounds (1 in chamber, 6 in magazine), the slide didn't lock back with mag empty. After that first magazine full, everything has worked perfectly with both 6 round mag, and a K9 7 round magazine.

I had 7 rounders on order, but bad reviews steered me away from them.

it's a hit & miss with some of the issues members have been talking about on the 7rd ext mags, personally i myself have had no issues with a feed problem or any problem for that matter.
most that have had the problem will say it's the way they grip the gun, so if you were getting a really good deal on the 7rd mags i would say stay with your order.

The mags were from midway, so $32 a pop for the 6, or 7 round mags.

this is the cheapest i've found total with shipping:
http://www.ivanhoeoutlet.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=76
they charge $5 shipping on up to 10 mags.
there is another 1 out there that is .50 less/mag, but they charge $9 shipping.
i've been able to find some used 7rd mags $15-20.

My 3 K9 seven rounders never caused a problem in my CM9. I read the same but went ahead anyway. Glad I did!

I hate paying $30 a mag for little single stacks. I'm used to paying $20 for double stack glock and M&P mags.

Just guessin, but I would iagaine with allthis gun craze lately that even kahrs are gonna get scarce. Just sayin\
Once gun buyers can't find any more AR types, they will start to drop down to utter brands..

I going to the hardware for some Gold Dots before they're all gone, and try to order a CM9 while I'm there if his price is fair.

I went to a big show today in VA and it was nutty. I was hoping to find some mags for a fair price... Not a chance.
Found some kahr 7 rounders, but only had 100$ and ended up getting luger grips/mags and some hornady 9mm instead.

probably the best thing one can do right now is avoid gun shows or leave ur mney at hoe and enjoy the nuttinest of the gun shows for awhile. It willbe a mad house . Prices will just iss u off. Give it a couple of months and things will settle down for alot of thins we now think we just have tohave but really don't need um.

I never go to gun shows at home, but I'm out of town and there was a big show...
I'm glad I went because I have been looking for Luger grips and mags for awhile. Got hooked up with a guy who had all kinds of good luger stuff.

or go to gun shows to sell some over priced guns to people that don't want the paper trail, then wait a few months to replace items once all this overreacting passes.. :D

Can you recommend a good "hoe" for me to leave my money at.:D

all the hoe's I know just
"gie it away".
Find ur own HOE!!! Just sayin.
speakin of Hoe's. About 10 years ago I was biking it back from Shreveport, Miss , and I stopped at some out of the way gas station and the two gals behind the counter did everything they could to get me in the back room for a price. Hell they had a damn menue even. anyway, I as a good religious person said no thinaks and went outside and was sitting there drinkin a sodie and this Ol scrufty biker pulled up and went inside kand a few minutes later he came out and set down next to me and we chatted. I ask him what brings him to this area. He said I am running my traplline. I think he was riding a goldwiner:eek:
