I'm sorry but the President can't be bothered right now about the war in Afghanistan or the Fiscal Cliff cause he's about to try for a Birdie on the back 9 at Waikola Beach....

It took modern politicians to turn a war we won back in 2002 into a war we lost in 2012. We've been doing it since Vietnam. That's what the U.S. does now, goes in, kicks ass, then lingers around until everyone is demoralized and we lose. Soldiers kill people and break things. We're not police officers or nation builders. Two local Guard soldiers were killed and a third injured in a road side bomb earlier this month in Afghanistan. We're all asking ourselves why.

I hope everyone who wants us to stay in Afghanistan longer joins the military and volunteers for a deployment to Afghanistan, because I believe everyone should live their dreams.

We may no longer be the nation builders that we once were, but we did a pretty good job of nation building in Germany and Japan. Of course, back then we didn't know the meaning of the word quit.

Sorry fellas, but I heard that same line of BS when I served during the Vietnam War. You're beginning to sound a lot like Jane Fonda. If we can find a billion dollars to pay for cell phones for the homeless we can find the money to defend our freedom.

Unfortunately, I am afraid with the current state our leaders have thrust our economy into and their keen sense of money management, we would end up borrowing from China for the very money to fund the defense of our freedom.

It will come to a stop and this penney annie tax the rich" bull sh!t is not gonna make any dent in our deficit until we STOP THE FOKKING SPENDING. Personally our military needs some good money magnagement, they have us all believing that we cannot cut our military budget, I for one disagree with that. give anyone a blank check and they will abuse it.when we spend more on our military than all the other cuntry's combined, then proper management certaily is needed. First, Muggsy thank you for your service.
I am not for cutting spending on the military per se. I want the biggest baddest most powerful military in the world. I just dont want to fund military actions for 10+year campaigns. Esp ones that, after enough time, start to question the very reason why we are there and continue to put our heros in harms way. I am saddened that this commentary aligns me with Jane Fonda. I dont see it but if you do, I am disappointed.

I totally agree. I believe in a get in, get it done and get out strategy. That's why I say we need a new CEO. If anyone is going to waste my money I want it to be our military. We didn't incur this debt because of military spending. We incurred this debt because of graft and corruption in our social welfare programs and foreign aid. I don't want some third rate foreign power to think that they can hand our arses to us because we appear to be weak. No country was ever attacked because it's enemies thought it too strong. Be very careful what you wish for. You might just get it. BTW, I haven't heard a single soldier say that he wanted to go home and many are in their third or fourth deployment.

They didn't need nation building, we're talking about Germany and Japan. We're talking about modern industrial nations, not people one generation off of a camel and that don't even share our common values. Sure there was devastation in both countries, but it's not exactly the same thing. Do you understand how advanced Germany and Japan are and have been throughout modern human history? It took the combined power of the allies just to push them to defeat. In Afghanistan we let the Northern Alliance do a lot of the work, and had some major firefights since then. Can you explain why they would be giving us more trouble all these years later and why we are still there in such force with such hostilities against us?

No one wants to cut tobacco subsidies, no one wants to cut wind energy, no one wants to cut farm subsidies,no one wants to cut ethanel subsidys, no one wants to touch our military spending. that is why we are headed for a 20 trillion deficit by 2016. If u truly think that is gonna go away by turning ur back to it, ,I think ur wrong. Greece tried it, Spain tried it, Italy tried it. We are trying it. there is a tremendous amount of waste in our military, there always has been. and u ain't gonna solveit by taxing the top 2% either
We could save literaly billions IMO buy just stayig thefokk out of these other cuntrys affairs, I never could really understand why we help cuntrys that continually want to kill us. Sure those cuntry's have big problems, they had them before American was born. I truly hate to see anutter American life lost to those worthless ass towel heads.
Now we are gonna ask for the death penalty for that American solder who killed a dozen or more afgan civilians, which no doubt was wrong but what kind of a signal are we sending to our soldiers. Do we now have to see a gun in their hands or a bomb on their body before we react to the traiining we have been trained to do. I am not defending that soldier but he was on his 4th tour over there, I wonder what his mental condition was. Oh yes we need a new leader of our cuntry but we need to "cut bait" with some of these cuntrys and let um alone We could be well on our way to energy independace if we had a president with any balls,. Why is it that we are just now discovering that we have more oil than anywhere else and certainly more natural gas than any country in the world. Seems strangetome. Where in the hell have all these damn scientists been all these years. Don't Sh!t urself, we are the most wasteful cuntry in the world. Now I read where the ballless wonder is asking for an addtional 50 billion for Sandy victim but in the fine print is money for a NEW FOKKING ROOF ON ONE OF THE SMITHONIAN BUILDINGS. I do not know how that helps in any way our Sandy victims. Where does the 50 billion come from??? Were damn near out of ink guys...
When times are tuff, u and ur family buckle down and do the right thing, Why cannot our government do the same and for me that includes a total full review of our military's needs... We did not defeat Rommel inGermany because we had the best tank, We defeated him because wer had the most tanks..
I justhate it when I get like this but lopok at our congress, They are gonna pass the most watered down worthles ass deficit spending cut that will will ever see, but they are gonna go back to their states and say heh "look what we just did". Were gonna shave 500 billion off our deficit but I can't tell you that were gonna spend 1 trillion to do it.It is the ol NIMBY SH!T, If it ain't oin my back yard, I could give a rats ass.. So sad. Now we sit here with ur pants down below our \knees waiting to get obummer care shoved up our ass, but oh thats right, the congress has their very own special insurane FOR LIFE.

Nguyen Van Thieu may have been a Kocksockin' Slope, but he was our Kocksockin' Slope. He didn't belong to the Chi-coms. The same can be said of the dictators in the middle east. They may have been dictators, but they were our dictators and their people were better off under their rule. While they were in power our twin towers stood. You guys may know a lot about guns, but you have a lot to learn about foreign relations. UBL-"When people see a strong horse and a weak horse they will like the strong horse. That is their nature." We went into Iraq to defeat the AQ who brought down the towers. Then we "discover" they are in Afganistan so we go after them there. We can't find them so we decide to widen our target to Taliban. Then while at it we decide to force democracy on them, in violation of a very long history of tribal government. Next we are losing so we decide to train locals to be solders and policemen. That goes really slow and next the trained locals start killing US solders.
I don't think anybody can remember why we are there anymore, but simply don't want to admit defeat. We should have left the whole darn arena when Bush landed on the carrier with the "Mission Accomplished" banner. The government/military is so hungry for a victory we may have to invade Grenada again so we can feel really good about ourselves again.
And don't even get me started on the Korea/China war or the Viet Nam/China war or now the North Korea/China fiasco. We are loosing the current China economic war and the China hacker war and the China patent war and the China supplying Iran and supporting N. Korea. China is actively helping every one of our enemies. Notice we've lost every engagement fought against China.
Okay, I'm done.

You made some valid points, Linc. I think that we should just stop fighting communist domination and learn to accept it? I'm sure that worshiping Allah and living under Islamic

Not that at all, Muggsy. What do we have now? They are welcomed into the US with protective laws surrounding them. Communism is legal in the US. So it's only when we go to foreign soil that we "go after them", and then with gloved hands to protect all of the innocents.
I'm sure the auto content sniffers will add me to their watch list for this but....
If a missile came out North Korea at us we would say it's a war against North Korea, and the same for any other countries. In this case we have a very large organized religion actually declared a war to the death against the USA and we treat it like the ones doing the harm are radicals so we cannot declare war on the religion. Guess what folks, wars ARE started by radicals, just look at history (Hitler). It is the responsibility of the non-radicals to control the radicals - period.
If we accepted the Islam declaration of war and retaliated in mass I believe this nonsense would stop. The killers may not hold their own life as much but they do their families, mosques and holy sites.
I know... shame on me for saying the obvious and I hope all the Net Busters read my other stuff to realize I'm a tired old helpless man that runs off at the mouth now and then.

In case you people are too dumb to understand the logic of wars, it is to make money. In the cases of Iraq, Afghanistan, Halliburton and company are making tons of money "rebuilding" them country we went in to destroy. Our government tells us we are exporting freedom to them country, really ? Who do you think is benefitting with all these wars ?
