I was checking my Kahr cm9. On the guide rails of the frame the lower front left side where the front of the slide sits, I noticed there is some kind of chip in the metal rail. I checked it and it doesnt look like it was chipped or anything. Is there a problem in my gun or was it designed like that?

I asked the same question last week. It's normal. See the link to my thread for more details (and a picture). Neall

If it is what I think you are describing, it is a line up mark for disassembly. Look on the frame for the line up.

My PM9 is the same way. I have 1500 rounds through mine and MINE IS FINE. But, I wondered about that mark when I first got my PM9.
No worries.

It's a locator notch/witness mark for the process of molding the plastic around the metal cage that is the skeleton of the frame. It's normal...every Kahr polymer pistol has it. It's explained in the FAQ's on the Kahr website.

I guess you guys missed the Newcomer/new member welcome links. That's definitely among the most asked question by people who haven't seen the Frequently Asked Questions.

My GF, an IT director, says r.t.f.m quite often. I had NO idea the F stood for friendly...

When you log onto this website it should say "THE CHIP IN THE METAL FRAME RAILS IS THERE INTENTIONALLY" :59:

This is what someone did over on Beretta Forum. Beretta 92's have a little "crack" (notch) machined into the slide where the firing pin protrudes, and every couple weeks it seems someone asks if their 92 is broken.

There are all kinds of links and I even added a sticky for New Members to welcome them and list a bunch of helpful links. It's like the manual, though, it's easier to just hop online and ask the question... been there done that, too.

Several of us have posted lists of helpful links for newcomers and "hidden" them as stickies in the new member area and under Kahr Tech. Here's the FAQ, or Frequently Asked Questions:

Specifically:
Q. Part of the frame rail appears to be missing on my Kahr polymer pistol. Is this normal?
A. The top rails on the Kahr polymer pistol are designed to minimize stress. It may not appear to be symmetrical because of its design.

Q. There is a chip in the metal guide rail of my polymer pistol. Is this normal?
A. This is a witness mark for the polymer frame manufacturer and is present by design.
