LISTING OF HORRIBLE ONLINE MERCHANTS...
hey guys,
just wanna make a little list (hopefully little) of bad online merchants:
here is mine:
1) tombstone tactical
2) classic firearms
with tombstone, i ordered a new glock19 that was in stock and order went through then out the blue they just cancelled no explanation and no correspondence, 2nd order with them was a kriss supervector v and was in stock and charged and nothing until i emailed then an email saying order cancelled but yet still charged $200 for deposit.... i emailed them too many times and still i ended up disputing the charges all 3 of them...
with classic firearms... let's just say the guy was a real big ahole to deal with, wanted to charge me $15 for an order that had wrong shipping address and $15 to cancel if i didn't pick up and threatened continue billing me if i didn't respond... this was an order for a handgun i purchased 1am last night and emailed and called the next morning to tell them their system had wrong info...
with both of the above cases... problems after problems with logging into their system and even visting their sites...
horrible time wasting experiences...

Botach Tactical - they will let you order stuff that isn't in stock and will wait about a week to email you that it isn't in stock.

I buy local when ever I can, it avoids these hassles, you may pay a little more, but you get what you pay for.

kinda got to go along with Jeepster. by local if u can, u might pay a tad more but u cansee what ur ettin and also keeping a small dealer going. Alot of these online dealers make ore money out of restocking charges, etc than actually selling the products.
the internet draws alot of unscrupless people, who can make a good webbsite look great but burn ur ass in the long run... Just sayin

I buy the guns local and accessories and ammo online as I can get it much cheaper. I know that brick/mortar stores need me to buy the high profit items but my money means more to me in my pocket than in theirs.
So far... lucky.... but have been burnt in non-firearms related purchases once or twice.
REMEMBER - if the deal seems too good to pass up, it probably should be passed up. Or, at least checked out fully. Do your homework in vendor checking as well as deal checking. ASK - return policy, restocking fee, shipping, etc etc... all before you order if you're not absolutely sure from past experience.
I try to get ammo locally whenever possible, but have gotten it online a few times with no hassles. Leather and accessories I get (usually) from places like Midway or Brownells, Cheaper than Dirt, CDNN. I try to avoid Gander Mountain, Cabelas, Sportsman's Guide and other big "catalog" places because they're usually the most expensive. With just a little shopping (barring their special sale prices on occasion) you can usually do better with another reputable vendor. Natchess comes to mind, they do well too.
Just go in with your eyes wide open... and ask ask ask... before the purchase is made.

I tend to buy local as well. With half a dozen shops within 10 miles, and knowing all of them pretty well, it's a good thing. My favorite shops even get their "regulars" together to make bulk orders on cleaning supplies, ammo and "hazmat fee" supplies (primers/powder) in order for everyone to save a bit on shipping.
I have purchased quite a bit from Cabellas, some bulk ammo, but particularly my boots every year... and a good bit from Natchez - mainly reloading tools. All of my "on-line" purchases end up being actual phone calls to verify availability (I do order projectiles from various casters as well), as well as to keep my credit card info off the www. algore never made that part of his information super highway quite as secure as I would like.
Long live the Mom and Pop stores.... I hope they can survive the megapoop conglomerates.

Being that no one is perfect except for me and Bawanna, and I ain't to sure about Bawanna, you can have a bad experience with just about any on-line vendor. I must be extremely lucky, because I've yet to have a bad experience with any of them. I tend to buy local, but I have bought on line on occasion. I've had good luck with Brownell's, Midway, Grabagun and KYgunco.com. Paul Giannaula of PJ Holster has also treated me very well.

First I'll say that I buy nearly everything on line, except gasoline, groceries, and guns, if I can find the gun I want locally. About 60-70% of the time I can't, so I've bought a lot of guns online. I do a great deal of research before handing over a CC number on both the product and the vender. So far it's paid off and I've never been burned, except............USAAMMO. Oh, I got the ammo that I ordered and it was shipped promptly, but as far as I could tell, it was substandard. My Springfield 1911 has never baulked at anything, but it didn't like the USAAMMO and my Detronics wouldn't shoot it at all. Unfortunately, I bought 500 rounds and I still have over 400 left because I won't use it.

Yes, my first couple of orders were perfect then they quickly went downhill. My last order was for PMAGS that the web site said were in stock. I trusted them because the web site said that other colors were not in stock. Got an email a few days later that my order was backordered. That's happened a few times now and I'm done with them.

That's been my problem too.
Order something that appears in stock only to find it's really back-ordered with no ETA.
I call that online bait and switch and it sucks.
Same thing happened with GlockStore.com.
I've had some gun dealers take gun orders including credit card numbers.
Then get called the next day that don't really have that weapon.
Either they can order it for me or they don't carry it any more.
But they do have?!?!?
What they do have is one pissed off Barth.
Some of the best online merchants are small and family owned like SGAmmo.
IMHO - companies like TopGunSupply, MidwayUSA and HKParts set the bar for excellent service.

I added CTD to my list of boycotted suppliers when they stopped selling guns...personal choice for both of us.
Taget Sports USA cancelled an order of mine this week for .223/5.56 ammo based on being out of stock. I will NEVER buy from them again. A good seller will allocate items on the shelf when a sale is made. If they truly make a mistake, they should offer a customer an alternative. I still have not seen my money credited to my account after 2 days. I think it was based on market manipulation. Again, personal decision...

Jocko, you might want to take a look at Jerry Bissell's custom belts in NC (http://www.jbgunbelts.com). Good communication and I had my belt in a few days (!) via USPS Priority Mail with a tracking number. It was $55 which included shipping. Jerry accepts paypal and USPS Money Order.

Jocko,
I have heard of people having issues with Beltman, though they seem to be few and far between.
The issues that I've heard that come to mind are:
1) Slow delivery (including missing "promised" dates)
2) Size being off (both too short and too long) even when people (have said) that they followed the sizing directions listed on Beltmans site.
Resolution of the issues seemed to be hit and miss, but some of that may be chocked up to the attitude of the customer who's had the problems, not really sure though.
I will say I got a beltman belt as a gift a couple yrs back, it's top notch as far as quality goes (though mine was a hair short AND was delivered late, it worked out fine as I was on a diet at the time...LOL) and I do really like it.
Now having said that, would I order one (again)?
Yeah I might, but there are other leather workers out there that make quality products as well, so personally, while I would never tell someone NOT to order from Beltman I myself might try someone else first. (though again, his belts are really nice!)

I bought a holster from him several years ago.....it had a problem with way it was made and he was total a-hole :32: to deal with. If he was only holster maker left in the world.....I would start carrying "gansta style-tucked in belt with no holster". I am pretty sure his last name used to be spelled BullsH!t and he changed it.

+1 Jocko, go with Jerry Bissell (http://www.jbgunbelts.com/index.html). I've had my belt for a little over a month. It is the real deal. You'll never need another belt unless you gain weight and outgrow it! :D

O'Dell,
Did you try contacting them to see if they were willing to try and correct the problems?
No, although it's probably a good idea. Since it didn't work in the two pistols I tried, I haven't tried it in the other 45's. I'm suspecting it's underpowered, because the small Detronics likes high powered rounds to cycle correctly. I never noticed that the Springfield did too as it shoots bulk Winchester and Federal w/o a problem.

O'Dell,
Did you try contacting them to see if they were willing to try and correct the problems?
USAAMMO,.... I called them and they were clueless. It took 3 weeks for my order to arrive. They couldn't even give me an idea when it would ship, they even said they had no clue. They charged my card right away. When I called they said it was in stock, then it was out of stock, then they were behind, then they switched to a new billing system, then a new shipping system and I wouldn't get a fedex number. I got a fedex tracking number 3 weeks after I finally received my order. The ammo was a good price and it worked (9mm) but I'll never order from them again.
Jfootin had a similar experience also I believe. Maybe it was just growing pains but they were a butt on the phone so I'm done.
