Broke my CW45 down after it's first range trip and everything looked fine, just a little dirty. So I'm happy. Even though I don't have a problem with the trigger, I found this action job on a past thread here:

I was wondering if anyone here has tried this and if it is worth the trouble. Though not really necessary, a smoother trigger could never be a bad thing, right? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Yea I did it.Its amazing when its done.Smooth as glass. Then I put in a wolff lightened firing pin spring.Since this gun is dao with a very long pull.I believe with those two things preformed that you can fire much faster without losing accuracy.

Thanks kahrbw9. I went ahead and tried it and I'm still trying to decide if it made a noticeable difference in my CW45. Since it is advised to run the striker assembly dry, I figured I would go ahead and do the polishing to slick up the whole operation as much as possible. I am really interested in the lighter Wolff spring for improved target re-acquisition and accuracy, but became concerned when others have mentioned light striker pin strikes. I don't want to trade dependability for a little better shoot-ability, if you know what I mean. Still weighing the pros and cons of that one.

pure b.s.on the light striker stuff with the 5# striker. I have over 32K out of my PM( with the 5# striker and over 5K out of my K9 with 5# striker. Those that are saying that IMO have no experiece with tht 5# striker. 5# is certainly not a light striker spring. That is a nice drop in mod and if u don't like it, just take it back out. It won''t let u down. Polishing up the striker and striker channel can't hurt a thibng, but normally will do nuttin for smoothness either, but again it sure doesn't hurt a darn thing either...

Right on jocko, thanks for chiming in on this. Experience is much more valuable than opinion and your springs have definitely logged the round counts to be a worthy example of their dependability. I believe I will go ahead and give it a shot as you and kahrbw9 have done.
Any time you change spring tension from what the "factory" calls for, it comes with ample amounts of CYA warning.
Doesn't mean the lighter #5 spring is bad. They give a warning... and you take it for what its worth.
"Don't slingshot the first round" is a warning, but lots do that with no trouble at all.
Here's something you can count on. IF your chamber is filthy, and/or IF your striker channel is filthy, and/or IF your primers are either hard or high or both, and/or IF your ammo is a little on the long side or short side of spec, THEN you're going to experience trouble earlier and easier with the lighter striker spring. Lighter spring on the striker will cause problems by a matter of degree, not pass/fail.
I"m with Jocko... got a #5 in my own PM9, it came that way used, and I never had a problem, at all, once, ever... with 6 or 7 round magazines using reloads, WWB, or Federal defensive loads. It all shot fine, fired fine, loaded up and ejected fine...
BUT - I'm sure Jocko keeps his PM9 fairly clean (if not spotless). You shoot some really filthy range reloads, box after box... with some nice lubed cast bullets... box after box... using ol' Bullseye powder... box after box... don't go whining to Wolff that the #5 spring is a piece of crap, yada yada, ad-infinitum.
And thats that!

CJB I understand the whole CYA warning. Makes sense. Appreciate your guys experience and input on the matter and have a few 5# springs inbound form Wolff right now. Look forward to trying them out. Like jocko said, I can always change them back ... peace

actually what CJB statedis true. a 5# striker spring is certinly not light. Glocks I think come factory with a 5.5# connector. call it what u want but it is still 5# and they make a 4.5# connector which is standard on glock model 34 and 35.. I would venture to say my 5# striker with over 32K round sout of it is now closer to 4# than 5#. Just sayin. Keep ur striker channel clean as one should and u will not have any issues.
It is also not like u painted ur house ti!ty pink and now standing back hate the looks and u gotta paint it all over again. Takes 5 minutes to take the striker spring out and in with the factory spring. IMO, this is one of the niceest and cheapest mods one can do to any kahr (except P380) and actully feel some difference..
Sometimes one has to analyze the person maikng a comment one way or the utter even, as to the motive behind the comment. I am sure if u look hard enough and long enough u will find a kahr owner who tried the 5# striker and stated light strikes. Next thing u gotta think about is what caused it??? (i. e. crappy gummed up striker channel, bad striker spiring or just a fokking lair.) Just sayin

I definitely keep my guns clean and I'm looking forward to that new spring. Nice ***** pink house analogy, LoL.
Glad you shared your knowledge. I feel much more comfortable with the choice.

Well, I finally got my 5# springs from Wolff and dropped one in. I think I'm really going to like it. Compared the pull to that of my CM9 with the factory spring and I can definitely tell a difference.
Next thing is to take it back to the range and make sure everything functions properly and dependably. Looking forward to it.
If everything goes well, I'll be dropping one into the CM9 as well.

Did you notice the wolf spring was a tad longer?

Interesting thread. I love a good trigger job; I've completed about a dozen S&W revolvers over the years, and they're smooth as silk. But I have to say, as far as DAO semi-autos go, my P380, after over 300 rounds, is as smooth and predictable as any I've ever shot, and I wouldn't touch a thing.:)

addictedhealer, yes I did notice that it was a little bit longer. I figured since the spacing between the coils looked a little wider on the 5# spring, that they must have needed to make it a little longer to get the pull weight where they wanted it. Just my observation and theory anyway.
Yah Flincher I didn't have any problems with the trigger pull either. I thought it was fine, but I'm a big fan of lighter triggers, as long as they don't become dangerous or impair function. Just a personal preference really.
