Ok Bawanna. U da man! My box from the big B came in. He took a pair of old plastic Rogers grips I love and made a boootiful pair of wood grips for my GSG 1911-22!

Looks like they fit as planned, I love it when a plan comes together.

For 1911 fans when I first saw what Bobby wanted I thought he wanted to replace those ugly things with standard grips.
I found out he wanted to duplicate and it was with much mixed emotion that I took on the task.

That being said as I worked those I became more and more impressed. I even brought them to work and almost without exception the first look was UGLY, but I told them to grasp a feel and the facial expression instantly changed. Even guys with large hands liked them.

They really force a nice high grip and for small hands help even more. My son who is very difficult to impress was impressed and said he felt they helped during the draw as your hand can't slip down and off the grip.

These are NOT FUN to make and I haven't figured out how to not waste a lot of nice wood but I'm pondering it. And yes I will make another set for myself and if Bobby doesn't have a patent on em for anyone else that wants them too.

Thanks for posting the pics Bobby. If I can figure out how I might add the pics to the emporium thread as well and I need to remember to add them to Melissa's, I mean my web site.

Pretty cool Bawanna, nice work! I bet they were tricky to make, are they all one piece?

No, I briefly considered one piece but between bushing being tight and wood sometimes wanting to adhere to the frame I figured they would break for sure the first time a person tried to put them on or take them off.

Stabilized wood would definitely be a good choice as that little finger stop is gonna be delicate. I looked hard thru the wood pile to find something that didn't have straight grain to avoid a crack in that area.

Just not enough flexibility to do one piece and I doubt I could even do one piece.

Gotcha, I can't see the seam in the pics and I was trying to wrap my head around how you could do that in one piece.

Another fine set of grips by the infamous, Bawanna. Esmeralda has nothing on you except for her girlish figure. You wish. :)
