Doesn't matter. Use what you usually shoot in a 9mm. Cheap is good. Personally, I like to use NATO ball ammo for practice.

buy american brand fmj amo for break in. buy a box of defense stuyff.
do the propper prep thing for sure, do the kahr lue chart for sure.
Do not be surprised thatif with standard over the cuntert ammo likke WWB or fedral fmj, ammo that possbly u might et some failure to lock open o the last round. This cold be to the less powerful rounds and the recoil spring taking its set to. So giv eit 200 rounds and just pay good attention to your thumb close to that slide stop lever and also to ur grip. All will go well but give the gun those rounds and you willthinkafter200 rounds u are shooting a different gunj. It will smooth just that nicely. Then run that defense ammo through the gun tosee if it locks backperfectly etc, then if all is well fidnthe defense roun u like and one that is totaly reliable and just stick wityh it. If u don't have 9mm ammo now u might not have alot of choices, there is not a 9mm round of any kind withi a 100 mile sof my home, nuttin. Ganer mt racks are just bare..
That is a dany P9 but please take sometime to read the new member sticky also, there is some tips there to help you. Do it all right from the git go andu willbe reqarded big time..looking forward to an after ragne report to..

I am running my 125 truncated cone Bear Creek reloads thru my CW9. 100 rounds last Saturday, another 100 this Saturday after the USPSA match. It probably makes no difference as to the ammo as long it cycles the gun. Left to right Bear Creek 147, Bear Creek 125 and Montana Gold 115. The 125 is on top of 4 grains of TiteGroup at 1.155" overall. Goes about 1,180 fps out of a G17.

Can anybody be more specific? With the lack of ammo available from suppliers, are there cheap ammo recommended ,brand, grain, etc? TX

I prefer factory ammo... brass or aluminum-cased 115 or 124-gr FMJ... no steel cased stuff... for break in. Any reputable manufacturer's ammo is fine. The cheaper the better for range ammo... Federal Champion, Herters, Blazer, MFS, PMC, Remington UMC, Winchester White Box, Fiocchi, Sellier & bellot,... whatever. I would rather shoot FMJ, though, not flat-nosed stuff.

Winchester White Box, Remington UMC, or CCI Blaser, round nose FMJ full power rounds to ensure functioning. I mention these as they are inexpensive and reliable.

I broke in both of my Kahr pistols using PMC Bronze FMJ ball ammo with no problems. PMC is manufactured in Korea is a state of the art facility which makes ammo for the S. Korean military. It's inexpensive and generally available.

two schools of thought -
cheap ammo - say Winchester USA - is usually under powered on purpose. Its marketing to make the good stuff seem so much better. Expect a few more issues with cheaper ammo - slightly lower powered ammo. Expect maybe a little more shooting to loosen things up
The other way of thinking is shoot the hottest stuff you can afford, hasten breakin, and be done with it.
I go with the cheap way of thinking - more shooting/bonding-with-the-pistol time. Great practice. Learn to deal with malfunctions.

The problem with being specific is that you can't be sure of what you'll find to buy. At my LGS it might be Federal one day & American Eagle or Magnatech the next. Just buy what you can find & have fun shooting it.
