This on the Neil Boortz show this morning...5 Police Dectectives in plain cloths were eating breakfast in a Belleville Ill Denny's restaurant when another customer saw one of the female officers pistol under her coat and complained to the manaager about other customers with guns...The manager went up to confront them and asked why they were carrying handguns in the restaurant...
The Dectectives identified themselves as Police Officers then showed the manager their badges and ID but were told to take their pistols outside and lock them in their cars or leave the restaurant immediately because Denny's has a strict zero tolerance no-gun policy which apparently includes sworn Police Officers....The Officers paid for their food and left...Belleville Police Chief Bill Clay got word of this and issued strict orders for no Belleville Officer to eat in a Denny's restaurant ever again....
If thats not the stupidest thing I've ever heard of I don't know what is...I have only eaten in a Denny's a couple of times and it wasn't all that great and I much prefer Waffle House or IHOP but after this crap I wouldn't go in a Denny's if they paid me...Perhaps it's time that Corporate America started to realize that legal gun owners are many in number and if we all band together and spend our money elsewhere if they continue to ban guns in their establishment they may start to get the financial message when they do bone headed things like this...
What does this say to all the hold up punks in the Belleville Ill. area???...If you want an easy stick up place go to Denny's because they even kicked out the cops!!!....I wonder if and when the inevitable hold up alarm comes in that the Belleville Police Officers responding might just take a wrong turn and get kinda lost on the way????....Wouldn't blame them a bit....

Well, they can't rob the Denny's because it's a gun free zone. See, no guns. No problems! In all seriousness that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard....
When I was a uniformed officer a lot of the restaurants gave us our food cheap or free because they liked having us around. The convenience stores REALLY liked us hanging around, drinking soda or whatever. Made them feel a lot better, and on more than one occasion i've seen a shady looking person walk in, spot me standing there, and turn around and head back out the door.

Denny's robbery in .... wait for it ... 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...
Denny's food sucks anyway, haven't been in one for years. Tend to frequent the IHOP and ******* Barrel. And whether they have, or implement and no-gun-policy or not, I'm gettin' me some hashbrown casserole at ******* Barrel with gun under shirt-tail until they ask me to leave. And then I'll take 1 last order-to-go :-)

A gunman opened fire early Friday morning at a Denny's restaurant and one man was killed and another seriously wounded, police said. It was the third fatal shooting to occur at the restaurant chain in Southern California this week.
A stock analyst says the string of shootings is not likely to affect the company financially.
The company says it s cooperating fully with police. And Denny's will continue its 24-7 service while it redoubles efforts to keep its restaurants safe, reports CBS News correspondent Teri Okita.
But the South Carolina-based company has struggled with its corporate image for years. Some observers say any negative news could leave a bad taste in the mouths of potential customers.
Stock analyst Mark Smith with Sidoti and Company says the shootings have no real link to the company and so should have no effects on its bottom line.
The latest shooting occurred about 2:45 a.m. at a Denny's restaurant near Angel Stadium baseball park after a fight broke out between two large groups of people in the restaurant, said Sgt. Rick Martinez of the Anaheim Police Department.
One victim re-entered the restaurant after being shot and died inside, Martinez said. The other victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive.
A gun was found near the scene, but officers were not sure if it was the weapon used in the shooting. It appears that the shooting was not related to street gangs, Martinez said.
The gunman was being sought by authorities.
The shooting is the third to occur in a Southern California Denny's in the past three days, after unrelated incidents in Pismo Beach and Ontario.
In the Pismo Beach shooting Wednesday, a transient with two guns walked into the restaurant at lunchtime, reportedly looking dazed, shot two men dead, wounded a husband and wife, and committed suicide.
The gunman, holding a semiautomatic handgun in one hand and a revolver in the other, entered the restaurant Wednesday and began shooting within a few steps of the front door, sending patrons and workers fleeing to the restaurant's bathrooms and kitchen, CBS News correspondent Hattie Kauffman reports. As many as 15 people were inside the restaurant at the time, authorities said.
The dead were identified as Frank Velasquez, 65, of Oceano, who was killed in front of his wife and 5-year-old great-granddaughter, and Harold Hatley, 73, of Grover Beach.
"They were just enjoying an innocent meal," Police Chief Joe Cortez said of the victims.
The gunman, identified as 60-year-old Lawrence Edward Woods, also wounded a married couple before fatally shooting himself in the head, police said.
A 37-year-old Pomona man was fatally shot in the parking lot of a Denny's restaurant in Ontario on Thursday after getting into an altercation with a group of people. The gunman was still being sought.
Denny's said Wednesday it was cooperating with police.
"We are shocked and saddened by this tragic incident," the Spartanburg, S.C.,-based restaurant chain said in a statement. "This appears to be a random act of violence."

Funny how whenever some liberal gets upset at something a conservative business does they have a pretty effective national boycott. Same with a TV thing where they boycott the sponsors. I keep wondering why the conservatives can't seem to do that also. Now you don't even see much of the Tea Party anymore.

Well, apparently this was the action of one stupid manager, or maybe of the owner of that store and maybe a few others. From other posts, we see that other stores don't have such a policy. So a boycott of the entire chain wouldn't be right, IMO, though boycotting the offending store or group of stores locally would be in order. It would be helpful, too, if clear communication to them made the reason for the drop in business clear.

the comment for the LEO's about sex offenders being able to come in and eat etc. FOKK um, let the 82 officers stay away from that business, don't p[unish all denneyso for the stupidity of one business buyt indeed punish that a$$hole restaurante big time. I am sure it will roll back further than just the 82 officers in the belleville area to. Other officers, securtty guards, state cops, conservation officers might all voice their displeasure. Let alone maybe sitting downt he street when that stupid store manager gets off works and breaks some law. I always hate dto piss a cop off. they do stick together u know.
Just a stupid restaurant manager who tried to push his weight around, and it backfired. I would not be surpised to see him no longer there either. As though most denny restaurants are franchisee owned which even makes more sense tha the is gone and mabe flipping burgers at Mickey D's. Just sayin
