I'd posted some shots up in the K-Series forum but thought so much of this holster I thought I should display here in the Holsters & Gear section.

I haven't been too enthused about leather holsters and in fact on more than one occasion have said I'd be sticking strictly with Kydex. Well, I wasn't able to find or build a Kydex unit that was quite what I wanted. My own Kydex creation actually works fairly well, but I've tweaked it one too many times and can't quite get the snug fit back.

So, in my long, hard search I found International Handgun Leather (IHL). I specifically wanted a high ride with some cant but not a lot, and a belt slide design. This little baby was just the thing:

I had IHL customize this one to accommodate 1 3/4" belts (no extra charge), but I show it here worn on a 1 1/2" bullhide that I sometimes wear.

I'm sold on the design for the K40 as it sits tight to the body, rides high but not too high for my older self, and has all the retention I could ask for. This holster fits like a driving glove and, while of course it will soften a bit with time, right now it feels like a Kydex holster--very solid. I hope to be able to get one for the M&P 45 Compact.

Hope this provides another option for those who like to go OWB and don't go for paddle designs.

That's a real nice looking classic pancake, Bongo Boy. A good choice for a gun the size and weight of the K40. While I have several kydex holsters, I have found that there is really something special about a fine custom made leather holster.

I am learning to appreciate the way a gun fits in and draws from a smooth leather lined holster, such as their Executive Classic (http://shop.ihlusa.com/product.sc?productId=140&categoryId=2), which I am looking at for my PPQ. Which model did you get?

Since I got my Jerry Bissell gunbelt (http://www.jbgunbelts.com/Photo-Gallery-1.html), I will probably be ordering 1 3/4" belt slots on holsters like that because his belt, though 1 1/2" wide, is very thick. I now have a couple of holsters similar to this that I have to use another belt with. But I really like Jerry's belt.

What model of theirs is that?

That is indeed the Executive Classic. On the belts, out of my many trousers, I have just one pair that don't easily accommodate a 1 3/4" belt--and I don't wear those pants anymore anyway because they tend to bring my sexual preference into question.

When this holster is worn on the 1 1/2" belt I find no issue at all of holster movement, etc. It stays in place perfectly.

I'm looking for a full size slide holster for my P9.

Yours is a great looking holster. Is the moulding on the outside only like Galco? Where the inside piece of leather is basically flat?

Or is it a traditional pancake style like this one:

Thanks!
