6 round magazine ?

So I bought a 6 round khar magazine for my CM40 and didn't order the one wih the magazine extension. Is this something I can order and add to it?

Yes, as long as you can find the extension part. The magazine itself is the same, except one has a plastic floor plate, aka "extension".

I got sidetracked trying to find my extended grip magazine base, then noticed my danged PM45 mags had splits!

Kahr sells the extended-grip bases, but I could only find the "chariot" type:

I bought their last extended 7 round 9mm mag and it came FAST. I will order from them again.
