Ran 240 5.56 NATO Federal American Eagle XM193 FMJBT 55 Grain flawlessly and very accurate..
The real surprise was the trigger on this AK.
It's outstanding.

Employee came in to see WTH I was shooting.
He said it shook the walls - LOL!

Then some boxes of Silver State Armory 70gr 5.56mm TSX.
I'm getting FTF into the feed ramp about 1-10.
And it looks like the feed ramp is shaving the tips of my longer
HP ammo. _(*&+_)(**&_.

I thought these AKs would run on anything?
Maybe the 5.56/.223 was a bad idea?

Guess I'm shipping this pup back to the mother-ship for service.

I've read some of these guns can be hit and miss.
But the good ones rock!

(I feel like I bought a gen 4 Glock)
CRAP - Sad now.

Kahr friends wish me luck in getting this thing running right.
Overall quality of the gun seems outstanding.
If I can get it reliable I'll be very happy with this little blaster.

I'd say 240 rounds of the FMJ flawlessly is good to go, that's what they were built to run.

Being a pistol guy I've always wanted to run hollow point ammo.
There's so much soft point and HPBT ammo for .223/5.56 available.
Mostly LE AR stuff.
That's why I got this caliber AK.
Have two 9 boxes of this on the way!?!?

I gen the mil spec FMJ thingy but thought a quality AK would run anything I put in it.

Is FMJ in 5.56 any good for self defense?

"Is FMJ in 5.56 any good for self defense?"

It'll ruin your day, I don't care who you are.

I'm sure the right hollow point ammo will feed. Like you said, I've heard they run everything but I've also heard some do and some don't.

Sounds generally like you got a good one though to me.

Thanks Bawanna,
I was feeling pretty low.

I think the Federal TRU stuff may work.

I've read that 55 gr. FMJ starts to tumble and fragment so bad when it hits soft tissue and causes so much tissue damage that the US was afraid it would violate the Geneva convention and they went to 62 grain ammo. Like the Colonel said I think it would ruin ones day.

There is some Nosler Partition ammo in 60 Grain that is suppose to put a deer down first shot when it hits within 100 yards. That would do it too. It mushrooms like crazy.

Honestly,
I've got no interest in conversion to a SBR or upgrading from iron sights.
This thing is a CQC, Breach/Repel Borders, weapon for me.
I don't see shooting over 25 yards with it.

From what I can tell FMJ will work for SD ammo.
But I'm wanting to be able to run anything with this pup.
And believe with some feed ramp work I can.

Time will tell.
Wish me Luck...
